To support that challenge, the Vegetable Seeds team is currently seeking a Product Development Specialist, Senior, for a variety of Vegetable Species in the South and Central Florida area. As a Product Development Specialist, Senior, you will support local portfolio decisions and sales with planning, execution, and evaluation of pre-commercial trials, leveraging local trial outcomes to refine product positioning, plan New Product Introductions (NPIs) and campaigns, and maintain long term demand plans.

You will help shape the future of agriculture by:

  • Ensuring local market needs are well represented with Regional Portfolio Managers
  • Driving the territory crop strategy, utilizing the Territory Crop Unit (TCU) platform to align crop and territory strategies and priorities
  • Planning the standard varieties, trial seed allocation and key trait evaluations for the pre-commercial trials and plans the campaign including organization of demonstration trials, with the Sales Operations Lead

Accountabilities

  • Translate the Regional Crop Trial Plan, into detailed territory Commercial Unit Plans
  • Plan and evaluate key trials with key producers, and organize numerous trials with the Product Development Specialist and Technical Sales Rep
  • Collect trial results and data and consolidate int Reports
  • Drive new variety pricing together with the Regional Pricing Manager and communicate price to Territory Head
  • Give technical support to key producers, leverage technical knowledge to the Sales team to prepare sales arguments and after sales support

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or Horticulture (Masters preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Ability to implement new market and business development plans to achieve profitable growth
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive work relationships with associates, dealers, grower customers and related industry personnel
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis throughout the assigned territory, and to company and industry meetings as required 
  • Position requires up to 40% field travel, within assigned territory 

Preferred Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the Vegetable Seed industry is highly preferred
  • Ability to forecast sales and budgets
  • Trial set up, planting and evaluation experience 
  • Knowledge of the Processing market industry
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive work relationships with associates, dealers, grower customers and related industry personnel
