Our agricultural industry is evolving, and we strongly believe it is critical we ensure agriculture is part of the solution to climate change, while providing safe, healthy and affordable food to a growing world population. Therefore, we are defining our role within regenerative agriculture to increase yields sustainably, produce crops with lower impact and protect soils for long term productivity so we can tackle both food security and climate change. As part of that ambition, partnerships are increasingly important, especially with the value chain.

Therefore to support that challenge, we are currently seeking a highly motivated Head of Value Chain Partnerships (m/f/d) in our Headquarter in Basel, Switzerland.  

Role Purpose:

  • Develop and lead the value chain strategy for Syngenta Group in a way that maintains our freedom to operate, maximises our sustainability impact and creates new business development opportunities.
  • Manage Syngenta Group multi-partner collaborations to build our reputation and ensure the views of the company are well represented within the industry.  Build a network and community of value chain professionals across Syngenta’s markets with capabilities to meet partner needs, deliver sustainability benefits and create value for the business.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and lead Syngenta’s value chain strategy in a way that maximizes our sustainability impact and creates new business development opportunities for the organization. Focus on a set of key value chain accounts and engage senior C-Suite management within Syngenta to help accelerate sustainable business development. 
  • Develop and lead projects that respond to value chain partners’ crop protection specifications in a way that maintains our freedom to operate.  Build upon these relationships to strengthen our reputation across the industry and help maintain our wider freedom to operate.
  • Manage multi-partner collaborations that Syngenta Group are part of (e.g., SAI and Imagine Food Collective) in a way that builds our reputation and ensures the views of the company are well represented within the industry. Represent Syngenta on key industry and NGO forums and promote the company at external value chain events and conferences.
  • Establish and engage a Center of Excellence that will enable the Syngenta global-local value chain community to expand value chain partnerships both internally and externally. Strengthen capabilities within this network through best practice sharing, embedded frameworks and governance in value chain efforts.
  • Align and engage senior stakeholders within Syngenta behind value chain partnership strategy, give direction for value chain priorities in context of the business strategy and support value chain teams to focus on creating impact.

Qualifications

  • Min. master’s degree in agriculture, business administration, commercial, marketing or related subject and +15 years’ experience, with emphasis on developing and implementing strategic plans, influencing highly matrix organizations and managing and developing winning teams.
  • Solid knowledge and experience of agricultural crop protection market, additional experience in sustainable agriculture is highly valued
  • Strong understanding of Supply Chains and Value Chains – challenges, issues and management.
  • Track record of building and delivering long term win-win partnerships and/or demonstrable success in initiating and developing Global Account business revenue and capabilities
  • Senior level expertise in General Management, Sales & Marketing at global and operational levels.
  • Experience communicating and delivering impactful and persuasive presentations to C-Suite executives of Fortune 100 companies.
  • Excellent in building rapport and maintaining relationships with customers, partners and key stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead by influence and as a team player, working easily across cultures, functions and business units
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, with a passion for business development and determination to create an impact
