Regional Logistics Category procurement Lead, APAC

Job Description

• To lead and manage the Regional Direct Procurement logistics category across APAC countries and China working closely with the business, logistics and P&S leads to drive logistics category sourcing needs..
• To lead the Logistics procurement for the APAC and China  implementing category strategies , long term sustainability and global  process standards .
• To work closely with the Global Logistics Category lead, Regional Logistics Lead and teams team to put in place a strategic road  map for the 5 year business plan and longer horizon and develop best in class relationships with strategic and tactical vendors including logistics transportation, warehouses and customs and duties.
• To ensure the Direct Procurement activities are in support of the Syngenta business, Crop Protection Business  Strategy  and P&S priorities , and enable Syngenta competitiveness and growth. To ensure security of quality supply at a competitive price.
• To ensure all operations are conducted according to Syngenta Code of Conduct and compliance requirements.
• Focus on savings delivery and other contributions to the P/L on a consistent and sustainable basis
• Provide tailored Procurement solutions for Logistics where the business requirements cannot be met by a category strategy or existing buying channel.
•  The role is also supporting Seeds

Accountabilities

• Ensure a Direct Procurement strategy exists and is under implementation across APAC and China . The strategy must be in support and aligned with the overall Syngenta Crop Protection strategy, the P&S strategy  and Global Logistics procurement strategy

• Managing the logistics procurement person in India and working on the capability and development plans for the team involved in logistics procurement in the countries.
• Contractual analysis and opportunities for standardization , benefits sharing, payment terms, notice period, indexation.
• Engagement with the countries and region on logistics transformation projects
• Logistics strategy that is forward looking integrating digital solutions in a phased manner in support of  programs from logistics operations.
• Assesing and managing procurement risks
• Key players in region/ country and capabilities mapping and their development
• Segmentation and plan to work with key service providers
• Sustainability focus and roadmap
• Category strategy fit for the region with inputs from global and logistics function.
• Reducing complexity in procurement operations and promote standard ways of working
• Ensure Procurement is being executed to enable Syngenta to be competitive and to outperform the competition (Delivery meets or exceeds budget).
• Ensure a team is established, motivated and capable to deliver the Direct Procurement strategy. All members must have individual objectives, performance reviews, career and capability development plans.
• Ensure alignment with the Global logistics procurement team and be a member of  the Global Logistics procurement Leadership team.
• To leverage the Procurement Centres of Expertise to maximize performance especially in digital space, to ensure efficiency, and to be aligned with the broader Procurement function.
• Ensure compliance requirements and being adhered to.
• Work together with our 4PL provider to manage the intra-APAC Global Modes

Qualifications

• Master level in management / supply chain with at teast 7-10 years experience in logistics sector
• FMCG / Chemical industry experience is preferred
• Demonstrable cross cultural management experience across countries
• Strong logistics domain experience and knowledge
• Sound market knowledge and experience in the region on movement and storage of chemical goods
• Strategic mindset , making a clear plan and roadmap for the future
• Strong collaboration with countries and regions, understanding how best we can service 
• our customer.
