Product Development Manager, East

To support that challenge, the Crop Protection Development team is currently seeking a Product Development Manager that will manage and coordinate all crop protection product research and development activities in Eastern Canada.  This role provides technical and functional leadership, and maintains a high level of expertise and competency in the crop protection field development team by actively recruiting, managing and developing a diverse team for high performance.

This role is based at our Honeywood Research Facility, in Plattsville Ontario.

What will you do:

• Provide leadership, coaching, and support to a talented team of  field biologists and research technicians. This role is a key leader on our CP Development Management team.
• Actively participates on the  Honeywood research site leadership team (SLT) to promote a safe and inclusive workplace in accordance with Syngenta Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) policies 
• Resource, coordinate, and implement all biological research and development programs in eastern Canada in accordance with company policies and procedures, ranging from development of novel techniques and methodology to data analysis 
• Develop Syngenta active ingredients to their full potential within the territory to timelines agreed with business partners
• Supports activities of the business units with technical training and information transfer to internal and external customers
• Prepares data, documentation, reports, etc.. to facilitate the process of product development as a member of various regional Multifunctional Program Teams (MPT). 
• Preparation/review of biological data summaries, draft label text, and technical statements
• Manage an annual budget within agreed to limits while forecasting future capital and operating expenses
• Develop/promote strong and productive professional relationships with University, Government and private industry research and extension personnel in the territory

You are someone with:

• M.Sc. or PhD in agricultural science degree
• 7+ years of experience in the crop protection industry
• Demonstrated leadership experience through previous experience leading diverse teams
• Extensive experience in field research and development of crop protection products
• Broad knowledge of crop production systems in the territory including extensive knowledge of plant diseases, weed science, insect pests, acceptable agronomic practices, and Canadian regulatory requirements
• Experience creating and promotinh a safety culture within your team
• Proven effective communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills
