Role purpose

The Seeds Regional HR Head for APAC provides end-to-end strategic HR partnership to the Seeds Field Crops organization in APAC and is a critical partner on the APAC Seeds business leadership team to lead and define our people agenda in region.  As a trusted partner to the Business, this role will co-create and implement people strategies to achieve the Seeds APAC business results.

The role is responsible for leading all HR aspects of our APAC Seeds business through a combination of e2e direct and indirect HR capabilities whilst also ensuring an aligned employee experience with other BUs in the region where this is important.  Many of the key HR resources at a regional CoE level and at a country level will remain reporting to CP but HR leadership direction and priority setting for Seeds will come from this role in partnership with the APAC HR Head. 

Alignment with Vegetables and Flowers in the region as part of the overall Seeds BU is important as well as alignment with CP for a consistent employee experience.

Key Year 1 priorities:

  • Design and Implement the regional business model to determine which teams/countries will now report directly into the Seeds APAC RD, coaching leadership to successfully land this change and implement associated HR policies (e.g. STI plans) and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Review the HR Operating model in Region for Seeds to confirm (a) governance and decision making with CP and Veg/Fl, (b) validate CoE resource reporting lines and ways of working, (c) confirm country HR resource reporting lines and ways of working for Seeds dedicated teams now reporting to the Seeds APAC RD
  • Translation of the ‘new’ regional business team strategy and priorities into the HR priorities and align HR resources across the matrix – whilst delivering a cost effective HR op model with the Seeds APAC P&L

Role Accountabilities  

  • Directly lead all HR work for Seeds in the Region on behalf of the business and is responsible for making HR decisions for Seeds business in region.
  • Active member of the Seeds APAC business leadership team, of the Global Seeds HR Leadership team, and of the APAC Region HRLT
  • Partner with the regional leaders and their respective leadership teams to design the translation of the business strategy into people and organization initiatives and solutions focusing on building an effective organization with engaged employees ready to deliver on short and long term business objectives
  • Coach and challenge regional leaders to develop the organizational capabilities and culture as well as resources required to enable delivery of their business strategy, and to provide coaching and feedback to ensure the development of their leadership effectiveness
  • Indirectly lead Seeds HR resources in the region to embed robust people management disciplines including talent acquisition, talent management, people & org development, diversity and inclusion, performance management and reward.
  • Develop a customer-oriented mindset and culture, as well as relevant capabilities to support the business.
  • As a representative of the region in global SE HRLT, ensure a strong contribution and input to Seeds Global HR, collaborating closely with global HRBPs and COEs.
  • Ensure strong collaboration with APAC HR Head to foster One HR mindset and ensure alignment, best practice sharing, HR function development & cross HR BU’s talent management.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a culture of ethics and compliance in the seeds regional organization.

Qualifications

  • Track record of HR business partnering experience in multi-national, complex organisations, ability to navigate a complex business and HR matrix with at least 10-15 years of experience as a Business Partner (COE experience in OD/ Talent Management desirable)
  • A breadth of HR experience across several HR disciplines, with specific experience in talent management & organization development
  • Transformation & change management skills: successful track record of implementing Business transformation as well as Human Resources initiatives that have had a clear impact on the performance and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Strong ability to translate the business ambition and 5ypl into org structures, leadership styles, culture and capabilities to contribute to the successful execution of the Seeds strategy 
  • Leadership skills: ability to influence in a complex & ambiguous environment,  demonstrates high levels of collaboration, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent coaching skills: Strong track record as a people manager and building organizational capabilities both in the business and own HR team
  • Diplomacy and ability to remain objective when dealing with sensitive cross-cultural cases
  • Master’s degree/Diploma in Human Resource Management
  • Experience working across countries in APAC (managing at least 2-3 countries)
