Associate Scientist – Rice Breeding Operations

Role Purpose:

• Taking lead in breeding operations.
• Planning for resources required for breeding trials.
• Maintaining good agronomy of the crop.
• Execution of breeding projects as per the instructions and procedures. Ensure timely operations, data collection, compilation and presenting to stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• HSE: Coordinating with HSC Manager for Maintenance of HSE & compliance as per Syngenta guidelines. Ensure PPE for onsite employee, third-party workers, sensitize team members about importance of life saving rules. Recording and report HSE observations on Monthly basis to line manager.
• Quality: Coordinate with quality manager and execution of work, based on the site work instructions and collection of data as per procedures and timely submission of reports to breeders
• Sound knowledge on breeding program. Assist in better utilization of land, labor, and other resources for execution of breeding projects with good agronomic practices and seed production for different levels of testing with highest success percentage. Helping breeder in executing work related to farm
• Timely submission of samples: 1. Leaf and seed for genotyping analysis, 2. Grain for quality analysis  and 3. Boot for DH lab.
• Collecting information from vendors price quotes on capex, general farm operations and execution of purchase orders on time.
• Maintenance and repair of Tractor, machineries, bore wells and on farm electricals. Maintenance infrastructural facilities like Labor sheds, poly house, Chemical storage, office containers and record Stock maintenance of fertilizer and consumables
• Looking after third party payment like labors, security, field staff and land lease

Qualification             

•  M. Sc. Agriculture in Agronomy

Experience                 

• 5 year in breeding operations                                  

Location                       

• Hyderabad, Telangana, India

Language            

• Good speaking and communication in English and also telugu speaking is desirable.
