Job description

At Syngenta, we are working to build the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture that provides leading seeds and crop protection innovations to enhance the prosperity of farmers. To support this challenge, Syngenta’s Crop Protection Finance Team is currently seeking a remote Finance Business Partner for Soy Production & Supply to serve the Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois areas.  

Role purpose:

In this role, the Finance Business Partner provides crucial finance support to Function stakeholders and their organization(s) through collaborative business partnering, financial analysis and planning, and driving productivity initiatives across the NA organization. This role contributes to the company’s overall financial health and strategic alignment by conducting in-depth financial modeling, developing business cases, providing critical insights, and enabling informed decisions by senior leadership.

Accountabilities:

  • Apply financial expertise to influence business strategy, decisions, and challenge assumptions. Proactively provide financial modeling, analysis, and support to business cases for function stakeholders (i.e. cogs, productivity initiatives, secondary distribution, capacity projects).
  • Provide insights into the company's financial performance through advanced financial analysis, including complex variance analysis, scenario modeling, and trend forecasting. Validate standard COGS, prepare standard-to-standard and gross profit reviews, and lead budgeting & reconciliation for full year reporting on these processes. Identify material deviations from strategy and forecast.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to senior leadership and function stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators, financial trends, and actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business partners to provide financial insights, support strategic initiatives, and evaluate the financial impact of business decisions. 
  • Lead the development of annual budgets, long-term financial plans, and periodic forecasting processes, working closely with business units to align financial goals with strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models for valuation, investment analysis, and strategic decision support, incorporating risk assessment and sensitivity analysis.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial operations by identifying opportunities to enhance financial reporting, analysis capabilities, and support tools, reporting efficiency, and data accuracy. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal controls, actively participating in risk assessment and mitigation activities.

Qualifications

Required skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) may be preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, accounting, or related field, preferably within agriculture or related industry.
  • 5+ years’ experience in financial reporting, modeling, and business partnering in a corporate setting required.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SAC, financial modeling software, SAP, Qlik, PowerBI).
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of supply and manufacturing concepts or supply chain processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Independent problem-solving.
  • Effective Communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex information.
  • Thrives in a complex, matrixed organization; stress-resilient.
  • Excellent stakeholder and relationship management.
  • Strong prioritization skills.

  • All applicants must be authorized to work in the US or Canada without sponsorship from Syngenta
  • 10% Travel Required.
