About this opportunity:

The Travel Operations Manager report to and work closely with the Global Category Lead for Travel to optimize the travel experience for Syngenta employees.  The role includes improving the service delivery of the travel management company on a global basis, ensuring all travelers are supported receiving the best possible travel experience and providing information to the business leaders around the travel program performance.  In addition, the Travel Operations Manager will support the rollout of new tools and processes within the travel category.

You will be accountable for:

  • Manage Travel Service Delivery for a defined market/business and/or operational focus and ownership as assigned by the Global Category Lead Travel
  • Manage the day-to-day employee queries that cannot be resolved using the supplier helpdesks
  • Assist in promoting use of the global travel program and adoption of online booking tools
  • Advise Leadership/Category Lead of issues impacting service delivery or quality
  • Assist with implementation/development of new processes or procedures
  • Support integration of new technologies including the rollout of online booking tools
  • Collaborate with Category Managers to optimize supplier performance including supporting RFP’s, preparing analysis and provide recommendations
  • Support with travel reporting to business units and leadership teams
  • Represent the travel category as local point of contact or subject matter expert (SME) to further advance global program engagement and utilization.
  • Support local and global teams in all travel related initiatives – including collaborating with other internal organizations which touch the travel service scope i.e. Compensation and Benefits and Finance Operations.
  • Educate employees on travel policies, procedures and processes
  • Assume other projects and duties that support the global and regional travel programme(s)

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years working in corporate travel management environment (travel management company, large corporate organization with significant travel).
  • Knowledge of Corporate travel tools and processes including but not restricted to: - online booking tool platforms (including Concur), corporate credit cards programs, travel management companies
  • Familiarity with travel supplier pricing and contracting
  • Ability to identify opportunities and deliver business change for travel and continuous process improvements.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office for communication and reporting purposes.
  • Specific skills. - Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage communication and build trust and influence.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, including ability to tailor technical updates to non-technical audiences.
