In this role you will work within a multidisciplinary global team to discover, define, and design experiences that empower farmers to work more effectively and efficiently by utilizing our data-driven solutions.

The ideal candidate will drive high priority customer initiatives, leveraging AWS services to solve complex challenges faced by our Digital Product Engineering teams. This is a technical, developer-facing role, accountable for the success of the end-to-end solution deployment and usage experience to support Seeds-related solutions managed by Digital Product Engineering.
The Solution Architect – Seeds owns the technical engineering design aspects of all Seeds solutions built by digital teams, including the architectural design, implementation of Proof of Concepts, and dev/test/production environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing complex solutions, providing technical architecture decisions, and guiding design discussions for our Digital Products in the Seeds area together with Seeds Product Managers and other Digital Product Engineering teams.

  • Provide technical leadership for Seeds-focused Syngenta digital products.
  • Experience in AWS solution architecture and design patterns to meet the needs of critical business applications, reporting, and analytics.
  • Experience in architecting solutions to implement robust batch and real-time data integrations.
  • Complete architectural reviews and delivery of agreed localizations supporting technical configuration, testing, delivery, and performance evaluations.
  • Design, build, conduct code reviews and provide guidance to developers.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to research, architect, and automate the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) of a wide variety of Amazon Web Services (AWS) resources that are hosting data platform components.
  • Experience with architecting and provisioning of AWS resources including, but not limited to EC2 Linux and Windows instances, Lambda, S3, EFS , RDS, Redshift, MongoDB/DocumentDB, DynamoDB, CircleCI/GitHub, Kinesis, Athena, and EMR.
  • Agile project leadership of self and others including other architects, developers, operators, and suppliers partnering in the delivery of AWS services used by the data platform.
  • Continuous improvements to intake request, CI/CD, CM, and other processes.
  • Leads internal employees and external consultants
  • Work with digital product engineering squads, product managers, data scientists, and IT teams to optimize solutions from the perspective of quality, performance, and cost.

Some of the technologies that we leverage are AWS, Jira/BitBucket/Confluence, Java, Python or Lambda, Linux bash shell.


Qualifications

Our industry and our function are changing rapidly so we are looking for new team members with a strong desire to develop themselves. You will be a great fit if you have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in informatics, computer science, or related field with 5-10 years of relevant experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience architecting solutions in AWS
  • Multiple years of business or IT experience in a commercial domain
  • Experience with developing solutions across cloud applications including Azure, AWS, Google
  • Knowledge of cloud-native development, data management, container & serverless technologies.
  • Experience in cloud-based tools, infrastructure, analytics and visualization
  • Experience running Scrum/Agile development practices (ideally as product owner or scrum master).
