We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Process Safety Manager to join our HSE Team in Grangemouth. You will manage a small team of HSE professionals, providing leadership for all aspects of Occupational Health, Hygiene, Environmental, Safety (both Personal & Process) and Security for the site to ensure legislative and corporate obligations are achieved, thus promoting a culture of HSE excellence. You will provide expertise and conscience for both COMAH and Risk Assessment (especially PRA (HAZID/HAZOP)) for the site; ensuring COMAH/Risk Assessment practices meet company and legislative requirements, site management understanding/responsibilities; changes are assessed, revalidations are timely and PRA practitioners and team members are effective.

Other accountabilities include;

  • Advise all leaders on site aspects of HSE management to help them carry out their accountabilities for HSE.
  • Facilitate and contribute to the annual Assurance and SRP processes to ensure that relevant HSE projects are given the appropriate priority. Routinely review progress of the resultant improvement plan.
  • Being the local link to the SPRA and wider PRA network, sharing good practice. Run local networks for PRAs in their “patch”.
  • Provide appropriate training so that individuals and teams at all levels function effectively in delivering and maintaining HSE, PRA and COMAH processes. Train and mentor PRA practitioners to develop and improve their skills. 
  • Resource planning – being aware of site’s PRA (e.g. projects and revalidations) and Process Safety needs over next few years. Highlighting where new resource or skills are required as part of a continuous improvement strategy.
  • Represent GMC in dialogue, contact and advocacy with UK Regulatory Bodies, Agencies and Institutions.
  • Provide independent leadership of projects or of revalidations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar role, ideally in fine chemicals
  • Team management experience
  • Good understanding of COMAH and other relevant legislation (societal risk, human factors and occupied buildings).
  • In depth experience of risk assessment processes and, in particular, HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA
  • Degree or equivalent experience/qualifications in a technical area (ie – Chemical Engineering; HSE; Process Safety).
  • Knowledge of UK legislation and the ability to interpret and translate legislative needs for the company.
  • Able to interpret technical / hazard / operational data and apply the appropriate risk
  • Assessment methods and expertise.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
