Job description

  • The Senior Account Receivable Manager (ARM) is responsible for high quality and consistent Trade Finance Credit Management (TFCM) operational service support to the local organization in the Philippines, both CP and SE
  • The role is also responsible to manage Trade Working Capital, both CP and SE, to drive delivery of trade working capital budget for Accounts Receivables
  • Support other ad-hoc finance activities 

Accountabilities

HOW:

  • Be a trusted finance partner, supporting all activities in scope, on recurring and ad hoc finance topics
  • Build relationships across multiple finance functional teams and commercial teams to share and align best practices
  • Build strong business relationships with customers
  • Develop understanding of Syngenta's business and interaction between the different business units and functional reporting lines

WHAT:

  • Credit Policy: Adopt and roll-out global credit policy with country specific processes and rules and operates all TFCM functions accordingly. This includes financial authorizations according to the local delegation of authority (DoA) reflecting the segregation of duties between the Senior ARM and ARM
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential credit risks by setting appropriate credit limits and terms for customers, applying different risk mitigation tools (e.g. collaterals)
  • Credit Assessment: Assess the creditworthiness of customers through credit reports, financial statements analysis, and other tools to determine the risk of extending credit. Keeps abreast of market trends and economic conditions that may affect the credit risk of customers
  • Collection Strategy: develop and periodically review the collection strategy to ensure its effectiveness and efficiency; and delivery working capital target for Trade Accounts Receivables
  • Customer Relationships: build and maintain good relationships with customers, which involves negotiating payment plans, accelerating collections and resolving disputes.
  • Credit Control: Implement and maintain a system of credit checks and controls to minimize the risk of late or non-payment.
  • Debt Collection: Overseeing the collection of outstanding debts and the ARM to ensure timely collections and managing overdue accounts to minimize bad debts.
  • Legal Action: Initiating legal or other recovery actions against customers who do not pay their debts.
  • Compliance:
    • Ensuring that all accounts receivable activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
    • Leads the Country Credit Committee, ensures sound and data driven credit decisions regarding credit limits, bad debt provisions  
    • Support Internal and External Audit
  • Reporting: Providing reports and updates on credit activities and exposures to senior management: status of accounts receivable, aging of receivables, Bad Debts Doubtful Provision and write-offs, cash flow forecasts, and other financial metrics related to receivables
  • Process Improvement: Continuously reviewing and improving accounts receivable processes and systems to increase efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

Critical knowledge

  • Bachelor in Economics or Finance / BS Accountancy
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Good knowledge of the company’s ERP system (SAP); knowledge of FSCM is preferential.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products. 

Critical experience

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a corporate credit management team

Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities

  • Ability to prioritise, especially to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as within (cross-) functional teams
  • Experience working in matrix and international environment.
  • High focus and energy, with a pragmatic mindset and solution-oriented approach
  • Good knowledge of Trade Finance instruments (Letter of Credit, Documentary Collections, guarantees) and Ways of Working in export markets
  • Knowledge of the countries’ economics, Syngenta’s customer base, and the general business environment
