Role purpose

  • Build, maintain, and deliver territory business plan for the given geographic area.
  • Drive seed demand generation at YPR, grower, retailer level through flower trial  
  • Plan, track and manage team of Market Development Officers (MDO) and their activities.
  • Actively manage relationships with distributors, grower, YPRs, Retailers & Develop and maintain relationships with key influencers in the territory.
  • Focus on accurate and timely sales planning and seed liquidation at YPR & grower Level.
  • Define and adapt the best go-to-market approach by selecting and managing an optimum portfolio of attractive business partners, generating profitable sales and growing Syngenta's market share in the given geographic area.
  • Manage Key Account business development projects.
  • Find and appoint new channel partners in the given assigned area to achieve the business goals

Accountabilities

  • Meet agreed targets and objectives for flower seed & vegetative business.
  • Organise where needed: workshops, seminars, company trial days, and commercial demonstrations to promote Syngenta’s genetics.
  • Steer and validate forecasting / input tactical plan / input annual budget.
  • Delivering required-relevant input for monthly reporting
  • Feedback market intelligence and value chain information in a timely manner to relevant members of the Syngenta team
  • Develop & deliver compelling customer driven offers.
  • Develop/implement sound value and transactional pricing based on customer perceived value.
  • Co-Develop, support, and execute campaign plans.
  • Continually review distributors’ performance against KPI’s 
  • Review and Manage overview sales budgeting and forecasting per distributor
  • Gain regular distributor’s feedback on Syngenta performance
  • Maintain customer relationships and realize high customer satisfaction
  • Ensure effective collaboration with Sales Support, Marketing, TecSpec, Product management and other Syngenta functions to maximise the value to and from each Account
  • Management and coordination of the day-day sales activities in line with rules & compliancy within company ,and reporting forums to monitor commercial performance; initiate corrective actions to ensure targets are delivered
  • Execute a plan for the growth of the responsible geography, increase market share and lead growth.
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by senior manager from time to time including Country/Division projects.
  • Translate Syngenta Flowers Strategy to local needs

Key Deliverable

  • Achieve sales revenue targets for the assigned area/territory.
  • Undertake the required channel management to ensure availability of company stocks, enable prompt and efficient liquidation in line with demand.
  • Accountable for collections from all customers in the sales area/territory, ensure they are in line with policies and taking required action steps with errant customers.

 


Qualifications

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

Critical knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree (Agriculture or Horticultural qualification. Minimum of 5-8 years relevant experience, i.e., Flower seed sales, Nursery industry (retail or grower)
  • Key account management skills and distribution driven experience : 5-8 years
  • Understanding of competitive environment
  • Agribusiness experience: knowledge of cropping practices and (preferrably) crop protection products 5-8 years
  • Customer service and problem-solving attitude.
  • Strategic mindset to develop channel growth plan.
  • Team working and People Management Skills

Additional information

  • Willing to travel extensively, including local overnight to meet with customers/growers/retailers.
  • Reporting directly to Key Account Manager- Flowers SA
