Role purpose

Syngenta successfully implemented a global Source to pay solution utilizing Ariba on demand platform. We are looking for a Regional Procurement Operations Manager for the APAC region.

This position reports into Syngenta Global Procurement Operations. The Regional Procurement Operations Manager is responsible for managing the overall smooth operations of the steady state Procurement solutions for the region, manages the operational support teams for APAC and leads APAC transformation programme/projects for Procurement

Accountabilities

  • Implement and sustain from short to long term, the strategic road map for the Procurement Operations function in the region, aligned and integrated with Syngenta Corporate and Global Procurement / Operations strategies
  • Partner with all business lines from senior management team to different regional stakeholders internal and external to accomplish the Procurement Operations strategy
  • Drive and ensure an efficient and seamless execution of Procurement services across the region
  • Manage the team recruitment and bring appropriate resources to staff
  • Manage the staff and supplier responsible for providing Procurement services comprising of Procurement support team, Ariba admin team, Supplier enablement team, Catalogue enablement team
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for team members to help them achieve individual effectiveness and accountability
  • Facilitate training and functional help for procurement tools and systems. Up-skill Procurement and key stakeholders in the region across SAP Ariba and SAP Integration elements
  • Drive SAP Ariba system deployment and testing as required for new releases and bug fixes, and communicate changes to regional stakeholders
  • Implement, monitor & execute agreed KPIs for Procurement Operations in the region
  • Define effective reporting governance & reporting for sustainable Ariba operations in region
  • Trusted business partner for regional procurement function to facilitate requirements and cope with changing business needs
  • Communicate and influence a wide range of stakeholders including senior management – provide clear concise reporting to all levels in the organization through written and verbal updates including presenting at Steering Committees and regional leadership level
  • Own effective maintenance of desktop procedures and operating manuals in line with global framework
  • Support the business process owner to define and maintain protocols with IT and Accounts Payables
  • Manage regional escalations and expectations with procurement Operations leadership
  • Support forecasting and budgeting for APAC Procurement Operations and identify optimization opportunities
  • Managing dependencies within and across different programmes & projects
  • Maintain industry benchmark and best practice intelligence. Recommend and drive implementation of enhancements for procurement tools and techniques leveraging Ariba capabilities, proactively seeking out market developments, identifying opportunities for improvement, simplification and incorporating into Syngenta working practices

Qualifications

Critical success factors

  • Capacity to influence a wide range of stakeholders at regional leadership level
  • Deep knowledge of interface design and interactions with SAP purchasing module and e-Procurement solution
  • Understanding of Open Text Vendor Invoice Management (VIM) solution and interaction with SAP and Ariba
  • Manage own personal development and team member upskilling
  • Attention to detail, sense of urgency, work ethic

Critical knowledge & Experience

  • Procurement background with experience of procurement processes
  • Proven experience in leading team. Team recruitments experience a pre-requisite
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills coupled with a practical, commonsense business approach
  • Strong leadership and advocacy skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to build and lead a high-performance team, globally dispersed and operating in a matrixial set-up
  • Ability to work independently as well as lead and participate in cross-functional teams
  • Intellectual curiosity and professional commitment to excellence
