R&D Scientist

• Be part of a highly motivated and collaborative turf, ornamental horticulture, and pest management research and development team.
• Be an active participant in Crop Protection Field Development for Syngenta’s Professional Solutions Business Unit.
• Design, initiate, and conduct research and development projects including lab and field studies to support the Syngenta Professional Solutions Business Unit, contributing to the biological profiling of new and registered active ingredients, ultimately contributing to label development or label expansion.
• Summarize trial data and provide development recommendations.
• Identify development opportunities for product label expansion, including new uses and new solutions such as tank mix or premix opportunities, aligned with marketing needs.
• Establish, build, and maintain business-critical relationships within the assigned territory.
• Coordinate trials with university and extension cooperators, to assure appropriate representation and recommendation of Syngenta products and solutions.
• Coordinate with key internal stake holders on key projects, demonstrations, and consultant trials.
• Provide technical data and information in support of special local, state, and regional labeling requirements.

This is a remote position located in Charlotte, NC. 

• Ph.D. preferred (or M.S. with a minimum of 5 years of experience) in one of the agricultural/horticultural sciences such as plant pathology, entomology, nematology or weed science
• Technical and market knowledge of turf, ornamentals, and/or pest management products preferred.
• Technical and market knowledge in applied turf systems preferred.  
• Experience conducting field trials to evaluate efficacy of control products, and related experimental techniques.
• Self-motivated, ability to work independently and have excellent time management skills
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and people skills.
• Knowledge of statistical analyses.
• Skilled in interacting and communicating with internal and external customers and peers.
• Willingness and flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and projects.
• Travel Requirements – 25%.
• Manage a region including 8 states (TN, SC, NC, GA, AL, MS, LA, AK.
• Participate in national and regional meetings
