Syngenta PLM:

Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is the process of managing the Lifecycle of a product from inception, through development and in to manufacture. PLM will be a first significant step in our IT journey over the coming years, delivering a single source of truth for product information for formulation, packaging & artwork. The scope of the project will deliver an integrated architecture and data model to ensure tight regulatory compliance of the products we manufacture and sell. PLM provides a product information backbone connecting processes, IT systems and interfaces with numerous functions in the company as either customers, custodians or creators of product master data.

About this opportunity:

In the medium term (next 2-3 years) this role will combine knowledge on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes in combination with systems and data expertise to support implemententing and embedding the PLM capability.  You will help drive process changes within the business as part of the PLM programme.  In the longer term (3 years +) you will become an expert on PLM processes and ensure we make optimum use of our PLM systems to deliver business benefits related to PLM (e.g. compliant creation of Bills of Materials for manufacturing sites).  You will act as an expert for the PLM system and understand how the PLM processes are run in the tool. Being a trusted “go to person” for users and key stakeholders, including IT while providing training and education on PLM processes and the use of the system.

You will be accountable for:

  • Working with the different functions and stakeholders to understand the business processes relevant for PLM, and translate these different processes into requirements for the PLM tool
  • Actively contributing to the implementation and embedding of the PLM capability. Providing expertise on the PLM processes and systems
  • Being the point of escalation for users in the use of the PLM process and systems
  • Providing education to users and develop process documentation
  • Building up expertise on how product data are reflected in the PLM tool and how these data are being used for the different processes related to PLM
  • Act as a process expert on PLM

Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities:

Critical knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and/or relevant/adjacent field
  • Solid understanding of functional systems and data management
  • Knowledge of Agile development & Operational Excellence are advantage
  • Literate in Data and Analytics, understand how to structure and analyze data
  • Fluent in English, other languages are an advantage
  • Crop Protection, regulatory or production knowledge is an advantage

Critical experience:

  • Experience in the relevant operation
  • Project management experience is an advantage
  • Working in a multi-cultural and complex matrix organization
  • Functional experience in the use of systems is a requirement
  • Delivering training to users, translating concepts and system usage in business language
  • Functional experience in the use of SAP systems is nice to have

  • Analytical thinker, effectively. breaks down complex problems into simple steps
  • Translate business language into process and system functional concepts
  • Team player with effective communication skills
  • Influencing skills - develops relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to work across networks and flexible mindset to work on diverse teams
