Job description

We're seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead our vegetable and flower seed processing facility in Enkhuizen, Netherlands.

Role purpose

As Plant Manager, you'll oversee daily operations, drive continuous improvement, and lead a world-class team in meeting our business objectives. You'll be responsible for maintaining high standards in health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) while ensuring customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily seed processing and production activities.
  • Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Use lean practices and key performance measures to drive continuous improvement.

Leadership:

  • Provide training, development, and performance evaluations for team members.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and results.
  • Develop an excellent quality culture focused on customer and product quality.
  • Practice proactive stakeholder management across supply chain functions.
  • Ensure clear communication across all organizational levels.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to all HSE, Quality, legal, and behavioral standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Maintain all quality systems and accreditations.

Operational Improvements:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Use data and effective metrics to drive decision-making and track performance.
  • Lead Lean Six Sigma and productivity programs.
  • Foster innovation and collaborate with technical experts to develop new practices and technologies.

Strategy:

  • Develop, communicate, and implement the plant strategy.
  • Manage site fixed and variable costs, including capital projects within agreed budgets.
  • Contribute to the development and harmonization of the global seed processing network.
  • Participate actively in the site management team.
  • Maintain good relations with the local community and governmental bodies.

Qualifications

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • +5 years of experience in plant management or similar role.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to develop high-performing teams.
  • Expertise in operational excellence methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Experience in managing complex financial business cases and capital investments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in both English and Dutch, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
