Packaging Design Engineer (Additive Manufacturing)

Role Purpose

• Responsible for design, development and testing of printed components & packaging systems specifically related to packaging, innovation, marketing, regulation and application of Syngenta products.
• Provide drawings for Fill and Pack machines support in creating URS, supporting capital projects and machine design layout.
• Provide maintenance and troubleshooting support to adjacent supply chain functions (procurement, manufacturing, etc.), as well as, to end-users to ensure a safe user-friendly customer experience.
• Identify and implement innovative and sustainable packaging solutions that maximize our competitive advantage and build brand preference.

Accountabilities

• Interacts with business development to drive new development concepts to be 3D printed.
• Provide active independent support to NPI ensuring packaging milestones completed in time.
• Interacts with the site for fill and pack machines requirements in designing the layout.
• Conceptualizes new applications and transforms them into physical designs.
• Work with engineers and/or testing specialists to ensure all packaging testing and qualification projects meet a high level of scientific integrity.
• Lead packaging projects related to maintenance and/or troubleshooting support to adjacent supply chain functions (procurement, manufacturing, etc.), as well as, to end-users in the marketplace
• Work closely with other engineers to identify efficiency opportunities.
• Work independently with all functions (i.e. procurement, commercial, manufacturing, regulatory, logistics, et) to deliver goals on key projects or initiatives.
• Support appropriate maintenance of data systems and structures (MDM, SAP, range management systems, etc.).
• Provide mechanical, electrical guidelines and quality inspection system

Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities

• Bachelor’s Degree in Material Science, Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or other relevant disciplines (Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Engineering etc.)
• Strong experience as a Packaging Design Engineer in a similar industry handling plastics
• Experience in CAPEX projects and experience in fill and pack lines
• Experience in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
