We are currently seeking a Molecular Biology Scientist for the Plant Analysis and Trialing group. The full-time position is in the Beijing Innovation Center, Beijing, China. Syngenta Biotechnology China (SBC), is one of company’s global Research and Development sites, mainly focusing on biotech research and product development for major crops. Located in Zhongguancun Life Science Park in Beijing, SBC officially started operations in 2008, and is now the home base for 200 highly qualified professionals. Working with top level scientists globally, we collaborate to deliver innovative solutions to farmers across the world. As a Molecular Biology Scientist, you will be a key member in supporting the delivery of biotech projects and platform operation in SBC. 

You will help meet the world’s most pressing needs by:

• Providing in-depth technical expertise on developing and optimization molecular cloning technologies (high-throughput cloning, modular assembly) for improvements of biotech pipeline.

Accountabilities

• Provide in-depth knowledge on plant transgene expression and regulation, transient validation, plant genome editing, NGS data analysis. 
• Implement and develop innovative molecular technologies with free-to-operate and new IP generation
• Collaboratively work in cross-functional teams to ensure on time delivery of diverse plant biotech projects
• Provide scientific leadership in project development and technical trouble shooting
• Maintaining accurate experimental records and performing all activities in compliance with Syngenta quality management and HSE guidelines
   

Requirements

• PhD or Master’s degree in molecular biology, plant science, genetics, genomics, or biochemistry in relevant fields 
• Proven record of success in the form of patents and publications
• Passionate about agricultural biotech industry and good knowledge in GM and editing product development
• Capable of delivering under pressure and highly organized in multi-tasking environment
• Bilingual: Mandarin and English, proficient in oral and written English communication

Preferred Requirements

• Occasional evening teleconference for global communication within company
• Occasional weekend or holiday duties to support research pipeline operation
• Limited business travel
