Market Access and Compliance Expert

Make a global impact in seed movement and phytosanitary compliance. At Syngenta Vegetable & Flowers, we operate in over 50 countries and sell our seeds in more than 150. Every seed we move across borders must meet regulatory requirements — and your expertise will ensure it happens smoothly, compliantly, and efficiently. As our Market Access and Compliance Expert, you will be the driving force behind seamless global seed movements in Vegetables and Flowers various crops. You will proactively engage with regulators, industry bodies, and internal teams to interpret legislation, adapt to changes, and communicate requirements that keep our business moving.

The challenge

  • Monitoring relevant trade-lanes and keeping track of effective and new restrictions that may be relevant for the company and communicating with stakeholders accordingly.
  • Capturing the need of Pest Risk Analysis to gain market access and coordinate needed actions towards the NPPOs or seed associations involved with the subsequent follow up and support with the parts involved until its completion.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for phytosanitary compliance by mapping and understanding the regulatory framework on plant health regulations, and in particular international movement of seeds.
  • Connect with Phytosanitary, and Seed Movement Compliance, legal and regulatory teams and internal stakeholders to validate interpretations to ensure that the right approach is followed.
  • Collaborating on the maintenance of a database as a center of ‘truth’ to be considered for export and re-export purposes.
  • Monitoring changes in the legislation across the world on relevant combinations. Assess and provides clear input of the potential impact of regulatory changes.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders involved in seed production to bring solutions when encountering difficulties for issuance of phytosanitary certificates.
  • Collaborate across R&D, Supply Chain, Legal, and Regulatory teams to resolve compliance challenges and secure timely certification.

Qualifications

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree and proven experience in international seed trade, plant health regulations, or global seed marketing requirements.
  • Solid understanding of import permits, phytosanitary certificates, and international seed movement processes.
  • Experience working in a complex, matrix organization with multiple stakeholders and cultural contexts.
  • Strong networking and influencing skills, with the ability to advocate across nationalities and business functions.
  • Fluent in English; other languages such as Dutch, French, or Spanish are a plus.
