MAKE A DIFFERENCE

As an IoT Engineer for Crop Protection R&D IT you will be embedded within different delivery squads and work as specialist in connected objects across the IoT stack.

You will manage the operations of software development, implementing engineering tools and knowledge of the software and hardware development process to streamline creation and development of innovative services to receive, control, and manage information from devices operating at the cyber-physical interphase in research and development facilities of Syngenta.

You will share a collective responsibility with your peers in the CP R&D IT Design Guild to drive Syngenta’s technology and data strategy to identify opportunities to better serve and delight growers. You will have an eye on the long-term perspective whilst always maximizing the flow of realized business value.

  • Technical tasks
    • Create and develop devices, sensors, and software that allows the devices to connect seamlessly with other systems.
    • Research, create, test, and document IoT solutions with integrated systems and devices
    • Design, code, and test features of IoT devices
    • Develop with platform solutions that are cloud-compatible and work with IoT applications
    • Support and troubleshoot challenges with IoT on site
  • Technical Leadership
    • Lead the engineering processes within squads to provide solutions to challenges related to the connection of networks and platforms
    • Analyze user needs and work as service designer from a technical perspective
    • Embrace Cloud opportunities, in particular on AWS IoT services
    • Act as ambassador with stakeholders to bridge the IT-OT gap
    • Ensure existing platform tools are effectively used in relation to IoT
  • Play an active part in the CP R&D IT design Guild
    • Sharing learning and challenges
    • Agreeing guard rails and technology standards
  • Be an active member of agile, self organizing, squads
    • Advocating agile practices
    • Exemplifying a culture of experimentation and learning
  • Work closely with R&D IT Platform Leads, R&D IT Technical Leads, and Automation groups in R&D to  ensure continuous improvement of technical platforms
  • Proposes portfolio backlog items that will drive increased business value through technology changes

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

You will be a great fit if you have:

  • University Bachelor’s Degree in System Engineering, Mechatronics, or Computer Science
  • 3+ years working in IoT device, and systems development
  • 2+ years implementing and managing automation pipelines
  • 2+ years experience in telemetry and communication protocols
  • Certified Technician Degree in Electics, Electronics, or Telecommunication
  • knowledge of some or all of the following: Jira, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, CI / CD, Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible, Splunk, Nexus, MATLAB, MQTT, LoRa, LTE, NB-IoT, Python, Prometheus, Grafana, GitLab, C# and Java.
  • Fluency in English, additional languages beneficial
  • Awareness of emerging technologies
  • Strong influencer with excellent communication skills
  • Self motivated and proactive, ability to anticipate issues early
  • Ability to manage a high level of complexity and uncertainty
  • Consensus builder across diverse interest groups
  • Ability to deliver in a cross cultural environment
  • Strong customer focus, communication, teamwork and negotiation skills
