At Syngenta, we are working to build the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture that provides leading seeds and crop protection innovations to enhance the prosperity of farmers. To support this challenge, we are currently seeking a HSES Lead. In this role, you will set direction by monitoring plant procedures, ensure procedures are followed and assuring conformity to OSHA, EPA, state and local regulations, liberate potential of incident analysis to improve plant safety and environmental performance, provide a creative work environment for the development and delivery of training programs, and create edge through involvement with resident and non-resident contractors.

 Accountabilities

  • Assure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state and local regulations by auditing production units, labs and on site construction activities.
  • Develop and deliver training on relevant safety topics.
  • Maintain training records relating to HSES training
  • Review incident reports to identify and communicate trends.
  • Write/review/revise Plant Health, Safety, Environmental and Security Procedures
  • Monitor Resident/Non-Resident Contractor safety performance through relationships with contractor representatives.
  • Coordinate/lead Incident Analysis Teams for significant plant incidents and near misses.
  • Serve as resource to site Safety Teams, resident contractors, and plant functional areas.

Qualifications

  • Incumbent must possess, at a minimum, 3-5 years industrial chemical plant experience with a B.S. degree in science considered to be desirable.
  • Knowledge of Safety, Health, Environmental, and Loss Prevention programs either from formal education or experience within the Chemical or Agri-Chemical industry
  • Develop and deliver training programs that focus on topics which will drive enhanced safety performance of targeted groups.
  • Provide resource knowledge and support to site Safety Teams to drive site wide safety and environmental performance.
  • An understanding of Industrial Hygiene and chemistry.
  • Develop relationships with resident/non-resident contractors to assure their compliance with Syngenta safety and environmental philosophy.
  • Willingness to take on new roles and responsibilities as they relate to a culture of change at the Syngenta Omaha plant.

Critical experience

  • Critical Experience: 3 to 5 years’ experience in chemical industry management with progressive increase in responsibilities including cross-functional experience.

Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities

  • Critical professional capabilities: Able to work well with a cross section of employees and leadership positions to successfully communicate desired goals.
