Job description

We are seeking a Global Category Leader for Marketing & Communications Category to lead our worldwide procurement strategy. (typically covering 1 to 5 years’ time horizon). The successful candidate will provide strategic direction to regional Category Managers, develop and implement long-term category strategies aligned with business needs, and work closely with stakeholders to optimize procurement processes. This role requires expert market knowledge, strong supplier relationship management skills, and the ability to deliver targeted savings while managing risks and maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Analysing of spend, detailed understanding of the supply market and internal business requirements, develop and deliver the Category strategies.
  • Ownership verification & agreement of actual financial performance of the Sub-Category, including agreement and verification of savings delivery, budget & forecast data.
  • Provision of functional and strategic direction, coaching and motivation to a team of regional Category Managers (Up to 8 non-direct reports) in geographically diverse locations.
  • Manage risks associated with third-party relationships and ensure operational compliance across all relevant Indirect Procurement activities.
  • Develop, implement, and manage Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and risk programs tailored to the specific requirements of the assigned categories

Qualifications and required experience

  • Degree, commercial and/or technical qualification e.g. MBA or equivalent.
  • Strong indirect procurement experience within a highly matrixed, multi-national organisation, working within multi-cultural teams (developing Category strategies, procurement business partnering)
  • Good knowledge of purchasing procedures and processes, and expert knowledge of external supply market trends within the MACO category
  • Ability to develop performance measures for Categories with stakeholders and strong leadership capabilities to manage complex sourcing teams and projects
  • Strong communication and people skills to influence peers and indirectly managed teams
