To support that challenge, the Seeds Finance team is currently seeking a Finance Business Partner, focused on Corn Production and Supply, in Ames, Iowa, or Midwest region, United States. As a Finance Business Partner, you will support North America (NA) Seeds Operations with a focus on Syngenta’s Corn business.

You will help shape the future of agriculture by:

  • Influencing the business strategy and decision making, by providing financial expertise and challenging business views
  • Building and effective and collaborative partnership with NA Seeds Operations to ensure that financial needs regarding daily operations, budgets, and risks and opportunities are met
  • Developing relationships with related regional and global business manager and finance business partner to allow for optimal communication flow and visibility of results and issues onsite 

Accountabilities 

  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and monthly rolling forecast upates
  • Provide weekly and monthly analysis of variances including, grower and tolling Product Price Variance, conditioning, rework, cost center spend, and yield and production order variances
  • Identify, validate, and drive productivity initiative activities while supporting field and plant operations as needed, through site visits
  • Prepare and support capital requests and business cases as needed
  • Support the annual Seeds Production Planning process by maintaining and updating the financial model

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or Engineering; Master’s degree or CPA, preferred
  • 7+ years of finance or accounting experience
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing company budgets and forecasts as well as long term strategic planning
  • Demonstrated experience in building Business Partnerships with multi-site, complex logistics, and manufacturing environments
  • SAP, Microsoft Excel, Hyperion, and Business modelling experience

Preferred Requirements

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis 
  • Experience generating and communicating ad hoc financial analysis
  • Ability to use analytical and business case development skills to identify and drive process improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate annual standard costing updates and ongoing standard cost updates as needed for NA Seeds
  • Demonstrated experience leading and coordinating initiatives to design and implement new ways of working across the Seeds Finance team
