Role purpose

  • Execution and professional support of the field trials in Turkey
  • Data collection. Participate in the maintenance of the technical equipment. Supports the Field Logistic Team Lead’s work

Accountabilities

  • Trial responsible ensures a good choice of locations, farmers, and fields for the planned trialing networks. Positive interactions with growers. Handles contracting and accounting in connection to the locations.
  • Responsible for the execution of field trials, from planning trials in SPIRIT to harvest, this includes planting trials and data manual data collections.
  • Regularly visits fields, ensures the good quality of field preparation for planting, the chemical/mechanical weed, and chemical insecticide control in time. Diagnoses plant diseases and reports any other season-related phenotypic appearance (premature plant death, lodging, etc.)
  • Correctly and safely handles and applies pesticides, chemicals.
  • Safely and effectively operates rolling stock like tractors, combines, drills, forklift trucks, etc.
  • Data management, use of SPIRIT (inventory management, trial creation, mapping, and upload data), MINT (management and trace of seed materials) and use the applicable tools for data capture and analysis (EZ Capture, Farmshot, Metroplot, AidhaOne, etc.)
  • Coordinates, supervises, trains temporary coworkers, keeps the HSE rules and regulations during the daily activities
  • Maintains open and productive relationships with internal partners and external service providers such as farmers or CROs
  • Follows the protocols and regularly shares feedback about the data collection and status of the field trials and other projects
  • Actively engages in site operations, participates in common project tasks, meetings, documentation creation
  • Participates in the training of the new colleagues, mentoring other team members
  • Supports the Field Logistic Team Lead’s work with information, and best practices
  • Adheres to all relevant Syngenta HSE Policies and Standards

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Critical Knowledge:

  • Technical knowledge: agronomy, trialing, solid crop
  • English (written and spoken)
  • Computer skills (Data systems and Microsoft Office user)
  • Valid driving license

Critical Skills:

  • Works effectively in small or large groups.
  • Demonstrates autonomy, initiative, responsiveness, and effectiveness
  • Effectively prioritizes activities within their day-to-day responsibilities
  • Quickly learns and adopts new technologies.
  • Proactively ensures that operations are at the right level of quality and are continuously improving

Critical Experience:

  • Experience in tools and solutions needed for trial implementation and data collection, data management
  • Understanding of crop phenotyping, agronomy
