About This Job 

We invite you to help us shape the future of agriculture in the Great Plains region of North America (NA). To support that challenge, the Soil Health & Sustainability team is currently seeking a Soil Health Intern in LaSalle, CO. As an intern, you will collaborate with Syngenta researchers to evaluate and demonstrate how regenerative ag systems and other innovative (sensor, predictive) technologies improve soil health and water management in the Great Plains region of NA. Soil health research conducted in LaSalle will quantify interactions between regenerative ag practices and systems, Syngenta’s products, and remotely sensed data so that growers can make profitable and sustainable farm-scale decisions to optimize their outcomes and minimize environmental impacts.  

 As an intern at Syngenta, you will work alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry, and work on real projects finding real, cost-effective solutions. Work with us and you’ll get:

Estimated Duration:  May 2025-August 2025 

You will: 

  • Function as an integral member of a team responsible for data collection, data entry, and providing insightful feedback related to Syngenta’s suite of soil health studies 
  • Be exposed to on-farm research and development, presenting data to customers, and allowing you to apply academic background related to agronomy and soils 
  • Participate in sensor install and remotely sensed data collection, cropping and tillage system establishment, product application, and product applications, including scheduling water applications via pivot irrigation   
  • Effectively communicate regularly with peers, supervisors, and the Soil Heath Team regarding the status of projects and work activities  
  • Perform all tasks and behave in a manner compliant with and in support of all safety and stewardship related company policies and practices, including completing all required company training courses

Qualifications

What you must have: 

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program in Soil Science, Agronomy, Ag/Civil Engineering, Ag Business or another closely related field of study  
  • Understanding and use of modern agronomic practices  
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable moving violations record 

What you might also bring to the team:  

  • Ability to use MS Office, especially Word, Excel, Power Point and other standard office software 
  • Innovation - always looking to implement new ways or technologies to improve work efficiencies  
  • Communication - ability to effectively communicate information (written, spoken) is highly desired  
  • Detail Oriented - all procedures and policies must be understood and followed  
  • Collaboration - able to work with internal and external stakeholders to share feedback on products, practices, ways of working, and technology offerings
