The seeds computer vision team supports plant breeding research and development activities for different field crops and vegetables around the world. Scientists in this team design, build and validate computer vision pipelines to measure plant physical properties efficiently and accurately. The seeds computer vision team is seeking a computer vision intern with a passion for defining, designing, experimenting, and evaluating product-focused solutions by utilizing image processing, statistical approaches, machine learning and deep learning methods. You will be part of a diverse, dynamic and international team with a strong technical expertise. Qualifications

Accountabilities

  • Applicants should have passion for science and technology, demonstrate innovative and creative mindset towards solving complex problems. Prior experience in developing and implementing computer vision algorithms with Opencv and Python is a key requirement for this position.
  • Research and apply the latest machine learning and deep learning methodologies to address plant phenotyping challenges
  •  Evaluate and analyze algorithm performance—validate findings using a trial and iterative approach, continuously learn, effectively communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Develop Python code in high performance compute environments 
  •  Create documentation of code and prepare a summary of the technical work describing the problem, applied solution and specific contributions. 
  • Follow agile principles and work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional R&D, engineering and business teams. 

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with equivalent experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision 
  • Solid programming skills (python) 
  •  Experience with image processing (OpenCV) and statistical analysis 
  •  Practical experience applying Deep Learning for Computer Vision tasks and manipulating large image datasets with image processing libraries (TensorFlow or PyTorch), 
  • Experience in effectively communicating progress and presenting key results at different stages of the project.

Preferred Requirements

  •  Preferably enrolled in PhD’s degree with equivalent experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision 
  • Experience with Unix/Linux OS and bash scripting 
  •  Experience with version management system git 
  • Experience with SQL
