We have an exciting opportunity for a Bioanalytics Technical Specialist to join our Product Characterisation Team. You will provide analytical solutions for biocontrols and biochemical analysis at Syngenta’s International R&D facility in Jealott’s Hill, UK. This role will provide opportunities for autonomous innovation and out-of-the-box thinking, where we believe someone with excellent work experience or a PhD graduate with additional research experience would thrive. The role would mainly be lab based (80%), and you will also enjoy working with colleagues from a diverse group of stakeholders to represent and lead the analytical chemistry discussion in projects.

You will be leading the analytics side of diverse projects, ranging from research stage to marketing. You will actively collaborate with our Formulation Development partners to independently develop analytical procedures, including LC, CE, LC-MS, gel electrophoresis, biomolecule analysis and spectrophotometry, closely document your experiments, brief and coach project teams.


Qualifications

Requisite skills/knowledge/experience

  • PhD (or MSc with extensive industry experience) in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or a closely related field, with a strong background in biochemistry, with particular emphasis on biological sample preparation and extraction of metabolites/bioproducts
  • Sound experience in one or more of the following: analytical chemistry, analytical biochemistry, analytical microbiology, metabolomics, biomonitoring, biomarker discovery
  • Good understanding of the use of biological and microbiological analysis techniques, Molecular biology tools, PCR, Western Blot or protein or nucleic acid analysis, gel electrophoresis, general understanding of microbiology and microbial plating
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to partner with other teams and act as an active business partner
  • Strong background in analytical chemistry, LC, CE, LC-MS, spectrophotometry techniques, knowledge in metabolomics techniques would be a plus
  • Impeccable attention to detail and real flair for multitasking
  • Deep commitment to expanding your scientific knowledge
  • Awareness of all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental procedures
  • Experience of working with universities (ideal but not essential)
