Applied Genetics Scientist - Genomic Prediction

As a key player to improve our breeding pipelines, you'll optimize predictive abilities for trait selection, monitor germplasm structure, and contribute to early-stage predictive pipelines. This is your chance to make a significant impact on the future of agriculture by leveraging your expertise in quantitative genetics and advanced analytics with all the freedom you need to operate as best as possible.

The challenge 

What will be your responsibilities in this challenging role:

  • You'll lead genomic selection initiatives in collaboration with our Germplasm Development teams focusing on predictive modeling for optimal selection of parents, progeny and hybrids and germplasm management.
  • Your mission is to drive the planning, design, coordination, analysis, and execution of genomic selection projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery during selection cycles.
  • You'll influence the adoption and integration of genomic prediction methods within our breeding processes, continuously improving training sets and early-stage processes.
  • Your deep understanding of crop-specific market segments will be essential in developing successful germplasm strategies.
  • Additionally, you'll collaborate with Analytics and Data Science teams to develop novel tools and methodologies, pushing the boundaries of our genomic prediction workflows.

Qualifications

Your profile 

  • We're looking for a highly skilled scientist with a PhD in Quantitative Genetics, Statistical Genetics, or a related field.
  • You must have advanced data and analytical capabilities, fluency in data wrangling, and proficiency with regression methods and machine learning techniques.
  • You are an excellent communicator who can naturally and persuasively collaborate with different teams and stakeholders.
  • Your computational skills should be top-notch, with demonstrated expertise in advanced analytics techniques.
  • Experience working with breeders and implementing transformative changes in breeding pipelines is crucial.
