We are currently seeking a Chemist (analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, food chemistry) in the Analytical Development Group (m/f/n) in Münchwilen (AG), Switzerland. In this role you will be an integral part of the development activities for novel Pesticides.  

Role Purpose

In this role, you will act as team member in development projects. Together with a team of lab technicians, you as analytical leader for a selection of established and new active substances perform wide range of analytical tasks (e.g. method, development, method validation, structure elucidation of unknown by-products, analysis of final products, mother liquors, etc. as well as stability testing) related to these active substances, their formulated products, raw materials and intermediates. Your support is essential for the chemical process development and formulation development. You provide important data for the worldwide registration of crop protection chemicals and your quality assessments is crucial when selecting an external manufacturer. For this broad range of activities, you will take part in interdisciplinary and international projects and work in close collaboration with other technical, regulatory, supply chain and marketing functions.

This position is an entry level role which allows you to develop your skills in analytical science & technology and can also be the starting point of your managerial career at Syngenta by leading a team of Lab Technicians.

The labs are well equipped, and a variety of chromatographic and spectroscopic of techniques is available.

Qualifications

What we expect:

  • A university degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Analytical Science or related discipline (background in organic chemistry is advantageous), PhD candidates are also welcome
  • Conversant with most modern analytical methods, especially chromatography and spectroscopy, pleasure in selecting the appropriate analytical methodology, good experiences in analytical method development
  • Strong planning and organizational skills. Project management experience is advantageous
  • Communication and teamwork abilities are essential, as well as a flexible approach to your work.
  • You will be expected to deal with changing requirements and achieve tight deadlines
  • Used to work in international project teams
  • You are fluent in English and German (or strong willingness to learn German)
  • Post-qualification experience, esp. working in a GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) regulated environment, would be beneficial
