The primary responsibility of the Traits Introgression Manager is to work with seed development and partner with other functions to ensure reliable and efficient nursery execution to support trait availability within APAC.

As the Traits Introgression Manager your role is the following:

  • Manage and own demand planning, resource allocation and execution to ensure 3cycle/year of TI nurseries
  • Own the trait introgression pipeline, specifically TI nursery management according to the trait strategy and requirements determined by the business
  • Implement proper transparency and stakeholder management in providing regular conversion timeline update, risk and status information
  • Lead and ensure delivery of special projects/initiatives including business improvement initiatives, new business opportunities, as needed

Traits Introgression Pipeline

  • Attain 3-season/year TI nurseries following global alignment with best practices and standards in terms of marker strategy implementation, equivalency, insect and herbicide efficacy requirements
  • Execute trait introgression process as a cohesive portfolio approach aligned with business needs to deliver converted lines on time, on specification as agreed in APAC Tier strategy
  • Drive the timely line purification and hand-off of finished conversions to Parent seed
  • Forecast and budget TI resource requirements working closely with various stakeholders (i.e. PPP, SGKL, NSPP, etc.) ensuring limited variance on planned vs actual
  • Lead importation of remaining conversions in LATAM
  • Collaborate with Breeders, Regulatory and IRM to support trial requirements
  • Coordinate with Parent Seed Manager and Seed Production Research on hand-off status and conversion performance
  • Curate all introgression pipeline statuses and provide clear transparency and forecast end to end till product up to first sale
  • Formulate and lead the delivery of special projects/initiatives including business improvement initiatives, new business opportunities

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and experience in Ag or Pharma product lifecycle; or Bachelor’s with equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of multidisciplinary work experience in seeds business, pharma and/or biotechnology industries, product lifecycle management
  • Knowledge in plant breeding process, biology, agronomy including trait introgression and market assisted selection
  • Track record of project delivery success that should include: System Implementation / Integration, cost savings, process improvement in a cross-functional environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Power BI, Tableau, Smartsheet

Critical Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Plant Breeding and Trait Introgression
  • Data-driven individual with strong ability/interest to adopt digital technologies
  • Excellent communication skills, written oral and presentation
  • Leading by influence, able to challenge process and behavior through cooperative approach, working effectively in cross functional team coming from diverse culture and background to bring about process improvement
  • Curating project and pipeline documentation and statuses
  • Project management (scope, schedule and resource management)
