The role:

We are looking for an experienced toxicologic pathologist to work in our Global Toxicology team in Product Safety, at our site at Jealott’s Hill, Bracknell, United Kingdom. You will work as part of multi-disciplinary team to deliver pathology peer review of Syngenta repeat dose studies, conducted at Contract Research Organisations (CROs).  As part of our cross-functional technical teams, you will also provide advice to internal stakeholders on toxicologic pathology and clinical pathology across all phases of the research and development process, as well as providing expertise to support the development and registration of Syngenta products.  In addition, you will be involved in research and development in Product Safety and will have the opportunity to establish and lead both internal and external collaborative research projects.

Accountabilities:

  • Peer review of repeat dose laboratory animal toxicity studies conducted at global contract research organisations (CROs), shared with our internal pathologist and external consultant pathologists
  • Perform scientific review of haematology and biochemistry data, pathology reports and study plans (protocols)
  • Be the bridge between the study pathologist at the CRO and the toxicologists in Syngenta, leading to efficient R&D decision making and effective selection of safe molecules
  • Serve as an expert consultant in pathology-related issues
  • Provide expert scientific knowledge for experimental design, mode of action studies and other aspects of research studies as needed
  • Identify internal and external industry trends in toxicological pathology, have a network of external pathologists and be involved in national or international toxicologic pathology societies
  • Be familiar with digital pathology, in particular digital peer review

Qualifications

 

  • FRCPath or Diplomate of ACVP or ECVP necessary
  • Veterinary degree (DVM, VMD, BVM&S, BVSc or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school, or acceptable international equivalent in veterinary medicine
  • Experience in toxicologic pathology is necessary
  • Demonstrated expertise in reading toxicity studies and conducting pathology peer reviews
  • Higher qualification/MSc or PhD advantageous, but not essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in working independently and within teams
