Technology Implementation Lead, APAC

Role purpose

• This role is instrumental to help deliver innovation to Seeds Development within the Region faster in a more effective and efficient manner.
• Manages multiple projects simultaneously and utilizes formal project management methodologies.
• Drives the development of a regional technology implementation plan, aligned with the global technology framework
• Provides program, project and process management support to the regional Automation and Engineering Team
• Drives way of working within the regional Automation and Engineering team, including championing agile thinking and celebration of success through a proactive communication plan

Accountabilities

Portfolio & Project Management

• Working with the regional Automation and Engineering manager, and key partners in the regional operations teams, co-develop a regional technology implementation plan that aligns with the global framework but is adapted to regional needs.
• Ensure the resourcing, prioritization, planning and delivery of regionally led PoCs, Pilots and scale-up projects, aligning with other Technology Implementation Managers where projects cross multiple regions.
• Manage the regional Automation and Engineering Project Pipeline within Seeds Development’s project and portfolio management system and act as the hub across all functional project teams
• Organize cross-functional input (eg: finance, operations, insights, marketing) for new projects
• Manage relationships and act as the “activist” role in overcoming obstacles and keeping projects progressing through the Stage Gate process
• Own and drive the delivery of specific technology implementation projects within the region.
• Ensure end-to-end solution delivery, including the tools, process and training needs that go along with the implementation of new technology and automation.
• Support the implementation of an agile mind-set approach for the implementation of technology solutions, and ensure effective ongoing support is in place.
• Ensure benefits from the introduction of new technology are tracked and recorded in the appropriate benefits tracking systems.
• Drive the generation of a proactive regional communications plan to celebrate success and share progress throughput seeds Development.
• Keep abreast of best practice tools and techniques in the areas of project and process management.

Process Expert

• Ensure effective implementation of standard processes for technology adoption across Seeds Development and provide process management expertise to support other Automation and Engineering project owners in delivery of their projects.
• Network with the Technology Management team and Technology Implementation Managers in other regions to ensure sharing of best practice and new technology developments.

Critical success factors & key challenges

• Developing a partnering relationship with the Seeds Development operations teams within the region to ensure technology projects are planned to suit the needs and demands of the business, are being delivered to plan and that issues are being highlighted to the relevant stakeholders.
• Establishing an effective network with the Technology Management team and other regional Technology Implementation Managers.
• Establishing a project delivery governance framework to ensure project success criteria are clear, resource plans are in place and a regular progress review process operates

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

Critical knowledge

• Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Agronomy or Plant Breeding or related applied Science.
• PMI® Project Management Certified and in good standing
• Strong analytical & mathematical background.
• Knowledge of process mapping techniques

Critical experience

• 5+ years’ experience in project and program management, including managing large, cross-team projects
• Proficiency in initiation, planning, execution, and closure of projects.
• Experience managing all stages of a project lifecycle via Agile methodologies
• Experience of implementing complex technology projects within an agricultural research and development environment is a plus.
• Proven track record of managing complex technology projects in a large matrix organization and working in dispersed, multifunction project teams.
• Previous experience of working with third party companies to develop and implement technology and software solutions
• Experience of working with Agile project delivery tools and techniques
• Strong stakeholder management skills
• Previous experience of developing and maintaining networks and technology scouting
