Our agricultural industry is evolving and within the Business Sustainability team, we strongly believe it is critical we ensure agriculture is part of the solution to climate change, while providing safe, healthy and affordable food to a growing world population. Therefore, we are defining our role within regenerative agriculture to increase yields sustainably, produce crops with lower impact and protect soils for long term productivity so we can tackle both food security and climate change.

To support this, we are looking for a Sustainable Farming Data Manager (m/f/d) that will lead the EAME Sustainable Farming Data Strategy, collating the data we have and determining what we need to make it useful to our team and stakeholders in developing sustainable farming offers and services. The role will also work closely with commercial teams to gather data and drive data insights to further our sustainability strategy in EAME.

In this role, you will also work closely with R&D data and Digital Farming data teams to effectively manage, store and build insights from data that will help the Sustainable Farming Team bring scientific insights to develop new offers and farm advice creation across soil health, precision application, regenerative agriculture and biodiversity topic areas. At the same time, you will also collaborate closely with Business Units to manage the annual Good Growth Plan (GGP) and Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) data collection and reporting process for EAME, ensuring data is accurate, timely and consistent.

Location is flexible over Europe where Syngenta has legal entities - preferred Hungary or Poland.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the gathering, management and analysis of sustainable farming data for the EAME region.
  • Collaborate across the Sustainable Farming Team (SFT) to gather existing data into one location and manage that data for transparent analysis and sharing across the business.
  • Analyze internal and external data to deliver insights to the SFT that advance our ability to generate advice, training and offer creation of value to growers and channel partners
  • Work with colleagues to design sustainable farming trials and collaboration pilots so data is purposeful and insight generating, and that it builds on existing knowledge to drive forward our scientific understanding of sustainable / regenerative agriculture
  • Influence and collaborate with Digital Ag to develop aspects of computational agronomy and Integrated Crop Management relevant for improving the sustainability of farming
  • Collaborate closely with the EAME business unit (BU) and key internal leaders, data owners, technical functions and internal data and audit functions to maintain a well-controlled, standardized internal reporting process for our region’s contribution to ESG reports. Ensure accurate and timely reporting and disclosure of the annual ESG data and information to the Global ESG Team.
  • Point of contact for internal inquiries regarding sustainable / regenerative farming data and EAME’s annual ESG performance data and information
  • Collaborate, support and share knowledge with internal stakeholders including EAME R&D, EAME Seeds, EAME BUs, Public Affairs and global ESG team members

Qualifications

What are we looking for:

  • Master’s degree in business, data management or other computing / technical / science-based education
  • Knowledge of ESG metrics and protocols, in particular environmental/carbon, H&S and ideally sustainable agriculture KPIs
  • Proven experience of data management, analysis and insights generation
  • Good understanding of agribusiness, crop protection or related industries
  • Sustainable Farming / crop agronomy / crop trials data analysis knowledge is an advantage
  • Attention to quality and detail and solid analytical skills
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of another major European language is an advantage
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and knowledge of project management
