Here is how this role will be critical to our business:

Role Purpose:

•                    Lead Syngenta Guatemala seed production and processing operations at our Amatitlan facility in Guatemala. 

•                    Ensure seed availability to meet short, mid and long-term demand requirements at the required quality level to satisfy customer orders on the requested delivery date as agreed upon by approved supply plans.

•                    Contribute to and deploy the seed sourcing strategy with the support of its organization and peers to deliver sustainable performance to plan and recurring cost efficiencies every year for the defined assortment.

•                    Oversee linkage of end-to-end thinking that is co-owned by the farm and connects to relevant value chain stakeholders such as Seeds Operations, Starter material Operations and Regional/Global Operations & Supporting Functions.

 

Accountabilities

•                    Understand customer and market requirements by establishing effective relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure the organization supports business needs.

•                    Ensure that all production means are secured to produce for each season the quality, quantity, and at an optimized cost in line with agreed supply plans.

•                    Secure the distribution and logistics of the products to our internal and external customers under the certified standards of Syngenta.

•                    Lead the Team accountable for processes execution for seed and starting material production and local external sourcing from breeding lines hand-off to raw seed delivery (COM500 stage) in line with the Quality Management System (QMS).

•                    Own the performance indicators & drive functional excellence in the QMS for all processes related to the position and support the execution of operational excellence.

•                    Active collaborative engagement in the end-to-end seed planning cycle ensures farm capacities, production yields and operational efficiencies are maximized, and supply strategies are implemented to meet business growth and profitability objectives.

•                    Ensure achievable plans are agreed upon and risks shared and understood.

•                    Lead the Site Management Team, ensuring succession and development plans for key positions are in place.

•                    Submit and review Site master plans for business review, securing the Site FTO. (HSE, CAPEX, LOA, Strategy, Objectives etc.)

•                    Develop and agree to a tensioned operational budget to meet business planning expectations. Manage operational costs within this agreed budget. Develop compelling business cases for capital spending.

•                    Ensure involvement of the Global & Regional functional leads in reviewing and supporting the process of driving increased production performance, best practices and operational excellence.


Qualifications

Essential for this position:

  •  Agronomy professional or similar.
  • Advanced level of English.
  •  Minimum 5 years of experience in leadership roles in agricultural operations. (Experience in Ornamentals is a plus, but there is an opening to receive candidates from the Vegetable or Agricultural seed industry in general).
  • Collaborative Leadership & people management within a complex organization and across different functions.
  •  A balance of experience from Agricultural operations and the Corporate world.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and collaborative skills.
  • Resilient, results and Team orientated.
  •  Knowledge of change and project management processes.
