The Trialing Manager will be responsible for leading a team that effectively executes seeds development field research trials primarily for corn and soybean crops. With expectations to incorporate leading technologies and developing staff to generate the highest quality data in an efficient, safe and environmentally sound manner. The Trialing Manager will provide direction for day-to-day operations, on the job coaching for staff, and budget management for the region of responsibility. They will also be responsible for coordinating all interactions with local growers related to contracting land rental and implementation to support the execution of Syngenta’s research trials.

Accountabilities: 

  • Provide leadership support for trial management and execution which can include activities to assure that standards and timelines are met for planting, agronomic management, phenotyping and harvesting.  
  • Provide technical support and training for standard operating procedures, data collection platforms, and ensuring proper calibrations for high quality data collection.
  • Ensure people management processes, people development, and succession plans are in place and implemented.
  • Manage budget and allocated resources with productive mind set.
  • Effectively engage or delegate direct reports to work with cross-functional teams when appropriate to ensure business goals are effectively met.
  • Support and model a team culture that meets or exceeds the Syngenta standards for HSE and Stewardship expectations.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the regional agronomic practices, diseases, pests, and general farming practices of the geography covered to effectively manage proper execution and deliver research data against expected targets or KPIs.

Qualifications

Required:

PLEASE NOTE -- Candidates must be already located in the United States and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future (Includes OPT).

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an agriculture-related discipline and/or 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to embrace and champion innovative agricultural technologies, with a growth mindset.
  • Comprehensive understanding of trialing processes, with proven problem-solving skills and ability to identify and address critical issues.
  • Strong people management skills with proven ability to coach, mentor, and guide teams through organizational change.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with track record of building consensus and driving collaborative solutions.
  • Strong project management capabilities, featuring meticulous attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in business software including MS Office Suite, Smartsheet, and ability to quickly adapt to proprietary data collection and analysis systems.

Desired: 

  • Knowledge of best practices in agronomic management.
  • Knowledge of or experience with precision planting equipment.
  • Knowledge of or experience operating commercial or research combines.
  • Clear understanding of the practices and procedures that impact seeds trial data precision and accuracy.
