Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the Herbicide Portfolio Team involved in the federal registration of new and existing active ingredients (AI) and end use products as well as products in registration review.
  • Manage regulatory activities for the herbicide portfolio which includes but not limited to new and current AIs, new and current end use products, new and current uses, new sources and various other PRIA and non-PRIA actions.   
  • Responsible for the successful implementation of the product registration strategies to ensure that registrations align with strategic business plans and meet grower / end-user’s needs.
  • Provide strategic regulatory expertise, support and direction across the Syngenta portfolio and insight into competitor portfolios.  Support post-patent defense strategies and support life-cycle management.  This includes identifying and interpreting regulatory requirements and communicating them to internal partners.
  • Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with senior managers at EPA and other government agencies as needed on behalf of Syngenta.
  • Negotiate with EPA managers to define registration targets, resolve issues to ensure Syngenta business strategies and timelines are met.
  • Actively participate in external task forces / work groups to support needed changes in regulatory policies and legislation.

Preferred location, Greensboro, NC.  Relocation package available for qualifying applicants. 

There may be as much as 25% travel with this position


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or M.S. Degree in a Crop Protection related scientific field with 3-5 years of regulatory experience or a B.S. Degree in a related scientific field with at least 8 years of extensive regulatory experience.
  • Ability to understand, synthesize and communicate a complex scientific concept.
  • Knowledge of FIFRA, FFDCA and EPA registration requirements/policies/procedures is required.  Must have ability to share this knowledge with all internal and external stakeholders. Regulatory/government experience with an in-depth knowledge of US agriculture and EPA processes
  • Prior direct regulatory experience in working with regulatory agencies is required
  • Demonstrated ability in people leadership/management skills is essential
