Purpose

Ensures that the Soil and Plant Health trials follow the research protocol, ethical standards, regulatory requirements and good experimental practice guidelines ensuring that the data collected from field trials are accurate, reliable, and consistent and in line with the Syngenta’s Standard Operating procedures.

Become the digital expert in agronomy in Italy, extracting value from the existing and future technologies to be applied in the agronomy, with special focus to trialing and other technical uses.

Accountabilities

  • Developing and implementing quality control audit for SPH trials.
  • Reviewing and verifying data from field trials suggesting quality and efficiency at field level.
  • Preparing and presenting audit reports and findings.
  • Conducting training on products and techniques through educational presentations.
  • Support the Italian technical organization in digital agronomy questions. Being Point of contact from CPD in new technologies Technical Support team in the digital area
  • Address technical needs and create value and proposals from digital tools to increase efficiency in the processes or more accuracy
  • Accountable for TS demands in CPD team for Cropwise umbrella tools development in the BU.
  • Validating the adoption of Digital tools to support Trial evaluation (EDC electronic data capture): e.g. drone technology, image capturing
  • Precision agriculture (PA) responsible: Move from basic knowledge in applications (like nozzles/ volumes, etc.) to a digital driven application in collaboration with internal/external partners for sensorized scouting and application
  • Responsible as trial owner for execution of relevant SPH solution field trials based on implementation of new technologies and validation of mechanism of action within a geographic area according with the protocol instructions and general trial guidelines.

Qualifications

Experience required for the job
•    Strong ability in functional and operational management of R&D operations 
•    Strong communication skills
•    Ability to share best practices 
•    Drive energy, ability to deal with ambiguity
•    Leadership: ability to work within a matrix environment strong stakeholder management, influencing skills 
•    Knowledge of crop agronomy 
•    Strong digital tools knowledge such us programming, data capture analysing and reporting and others, like drones technology, etc
•    Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
•    Attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency.
•    Willingness to travel to different locations and work outdoors.

Minimum education and critical knowledge required for the job
•    Master Degree in Science (Agronomy, Biology or related subject) or Bachelor Degree plus 3-5 years relevant experience
•    English is the working language
•    Proficient IT skills
