Role purpose:

SFSA is seeking to recruit a Project officer to support the Seeds2B Africa Technical Lead in the coordination of the various seeds projects in Africa, projects co-funded by the SFSA and other international public and private donors. The project officer will also contribute (or lead, depending on the profile and experience) other seeds-related transversal projects.

The position is offered on a permanent contract, based in France/Les Ponts De Cé (49), with teleworking  up to two days per week.

The projects coordination is mostly done remotely; however, regular travel are required at SFSA headquarters (Switzerland) or in countries of operations (mostly Africa) and requires flexibility on times/days when traveling.

Accountabilities:

Seeds projects management: you collaborate with the Seeds2B Technical Lead and Seed country teams to implement, monitor implementation status, evaluate and develop internal (SFSA) and external (donors) reports (in English and French) for several seeds’ projects in Africa.

Digital: you support the development, implementation, and key user trainings of all Seeds2B digital tools in collaboration with developers, users, and project lead. More specifically, use an Agile mindset to continue the development of the existing SFSA digital tools dedicated to variety trials and variety pipeline management.

Secondly, ensure that the impact measurement tool remains fit to projects’ purpose.

You are responsible for developing and updating training material, training, and providing ad hoc support to key users as needed, and you are the champion for data quality.

Toolkit for variety commercialization: SFSA has developed a process and a series of tools to improve the commercialization of performing varieties in developing countries. The Project Officer contributes to the development and review of the tools, update and management of the toolkit platform (website), and training  internal teams and external actors in Africa.

In general, you provide support and technical expertise to successfully implement and deliver ongoing and future seeds projects as a team. 


Qualifications

Master's/Engineer’s degree in Agronomy/Agriculture Science, ideally with a first successful experience (internship/apprenticeship), in an international seeds company or in the agricultural development sector.

Experience in delivery of multi-stakeholders’ projects including coordination of agricultural projects in developing countries is a plus

You have good knowledge of agronomic basics and experimentation in agriculture (trials)

You are a real facilitator, you are a good communicant, organised and rigorous.

You are comfortable using office tools such as Pack Office (Excel), and other software/data bases.

Professional English and French required, to work in our multicultural organisation (meetings, emails, documents).

Site not accessible by transport.
