To support that challenge, the Project, Planning & Portfolio team is currently seeking a Project Management Intern in Downers Grove, IL. As an intern in Project, Planning & Portfolio Management you will coordinate and complete projects on time, within budget and within scope. You will join a team of professionals who work to ensure strong and effective portfolio planning, project management, and portfolio management for regional breeding programs and strategic initiatives.

Estimated Duration: May 2023 – August 2023 

You will: 

• Support Project, Planning, and Portfolio team portfolio managers in assessing yearly portfolio activities 
• Assist with managing data sources and data capture 
• Analyze data and prepare a report and presentation for an assigned project focusing on applying innovative methodology and technology improvements to the portfolio management cycle 
• Gather and analyze data and utilize various tools to assess and analyze data on total cost, unit cost, and future cost predictions 
• Structure large datasets for analysis 
• The intern will operate in accordance with Syngenta Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) standards

What you must have: 

• A High School Diploma or equivalent  
• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Genetics, Agronomy, Statistics, Animal or Plant Science, Business, Agricultural Business, or other scientific / mathematic fields 

What you might also contribute to the team: 

• Prefer a student with a current Sophomore or Junior standing  
• Some introductory data analysis is preferred 
• Attention to detail 
• Good communication and interpersonal skills 
• Critical thinking 
• Ability to multi-task, work independently, as well as part of a team 
• Proactive approach to assigned objectives/goals 
• Prior experience or course work in data science, computer science, or statistics is required 
• Prior data management experience is strongly desired
