Production Manager, FPP Brits

Role purpose

• To lead the production activities on site and continuously improve the capabilities, processes, and assets to meet the business needs in terms of HSEQ, customer response, cost and efficiency and full compliance with internal and external standards and legislation.

Accountabilities

HSE

• As part of daily activities drive HSE occupational and process safety activities as per Syngenta standards, legal requirements good practices, procedures, internal rules and controls to ensure one’s own safety and the safety of others
• Quantification, management and implementation of mitigation measures for HSE occupational and process safety risk.
• OHSA 16.2 and/or 8.2.i appointee
• Member of the site HSE Committee as a Management representative
• Member of the Site Emergency Management Team

Quality

• Production of products as per Syngenta Codes of Practice, legal requirements and industry practices ensuring customer focused products
• Take all necessary steps are implemented to prevent residual impurity incidents

Your Department

• Delivery of quality product to meet customer demand within agreed financial budget
• Ensure clear communication of progress against production plans with key stakeholders
• Manage resources – both direct employees, contract labour, and materials – to match variability of demand, continuity of capability and cost efficiency
• Develop and maintain production processes, procedures, and documentation in line with global standards 
• Ensure controlling programs and KPIs are in place to guarantee operational delivery within budget targets
• Focus effort to reduce production losses and improve efficiency to manage Variable Production costs (VPC), Capitalisable Fixed costs and plant Idle costs.
• Maintain motivation / morale of production team and develop capabilities of individuals to enable effective succession plans
• Develop and maintain operational excellence management systems and continuous improvement using Syngenta operational excellence methodology
• Drive safety and quality performance improvement and ensure production teams comply with Syngenta standards of HS&E, Quality and Finance
• Contribute to investment and maintenance plan to sustain assets / infrastructure and support business growth
• As a member of the site leadership team, proactively contribute to the development and implementation of site strategy
• Close co-operation with fellow departmental managers to align site activities to “One Team, One Plan”. Contribute to the site plan and support implementation through proactive participation in the Site Leadership team.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Critical Knowledge

• Relevant Engineering Degree
• Extensive knowledge and awareness of the OHSA and applicable legislation in HSEQ including Process Safety and Major Accident Hazards
• Formulation Filling and Packing Manufacturing Processes
• Knowledge of Cross Contamination Prevention Management
• Risk management processes including Hazops, PRA’s and WRA’s
• Understand the complexities of operating in a global organisation and matrix reporting environment.
• Familiar with the principles and concepts of Lean Manufacturing
• Is well versed with computer systems (MS office etc.)
• SAP and LIMS knowledge & experience (beneficial)

Critical Experience

• 5-10 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
• Experience in a production and processing environment where HSEQ is critical and non-negotiable
• Financial budgeting, processes, influences, and cost controls
• Line Management of multifunctional teams
