ROLE PURPOSE

  • Represent Syngenta Flowers APAC to customers and stakeholders during events, trade fairs and customer visits.
  • Manage the APAC portfolio (from breeding to retirement stage).
  • Lead New Product Introductions in APAC.
  • Represent APAC in global product meetings and instruct breeding on market needs.
  • Keep portfolio administration up to date.
  • Provide proof points for validations during tech & customer trials for successful introductions.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Portfolio management

  • Position assortment against competition and market opportunities and develop commercially relevant differentiators/proof points from trials.
  • Provide input in Supply & Operational Planning meeting: define substitutes for shortages in supply and develop sell out offers, appropriate for markets and customers.
  • Assess technical trials in 3 to 1 years before commercial launch and convert trial output into key product claims.
  • Manage together with Key Account Managers forecast of the portfolio in seeds, cuttings, and elite.
  • Keep Product Management Database up to date for all crops in APAC markets.
  • Rationalize (analyze and optimize) portfolio profitability.
  • Participate in most important Product Core Team meetings to give input and collect takeaways (pivotal function between APAC and AMS/EAME).

Marketing

  • Manage sample programs: define what where when why.
  • Support Key Account Managers in setting up License production or Unrooted Cuttings sales.
  • Write USPs for series and varieties for marketing tools.
  • Develop digital marketing collateral in line with APAC marketing strategy.

Other

  • Support in Strategic Country Business Plans (1-3 ear scope).
  • Champion the APAC assortment knowledge & train the APAC commercial team on assortment.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Critical Knowledge:

  • Assortment knowledge and/or ability to learn quickly.
  • Green knowledge: minimal bachelor’s degree in floriculture or equivalent knowledge gained through proven experience.
  • Good knowledge on SAP and customer services processes.
  • Thorough understanding of supply chain processes and systems in agribusiness.
  • Experience in supply & operational planning and demand management.
  • Excel-based analysis (including statistics).

Critical Skills:

  • Analytical and structured thinker, strong in planning and organization.
  • Teamwork, networker, self-determined (decisive).
  • Reliability, accurate, at ease with numbers
  • Good command of English in speech and writing.

Critical Experience:

  • 6-8 years in product management, strategic or planning function.
  • Working within an international environment.
  • Developing relationships cross-functionally.
  • Direct customer interaction.
  • Occasional international travelling is required for successfully fulfilling this role.

Critical Leadership Capabilities:

  • Leading without authority and ability to drive projects and changes.
  • Ability to understand and assimilate different markets and cultures.
  • Verbal communication, ability to listen, reformulate ideas into concepts.
  • Team orientation, diplomatic but strong results orientation.
