Job description

To support this mission, Syngenta's Portfolio and Product Management Team is seeking a Product Lead Cereal Herbicides in Field, Alberta. This role will develop strategies and provide leadership to maximize the lifetime profitability of products from test tube to exit, while ensuring the Canadian business receives strong brands that are well-designed, properly positioned, and efficiently supplied for incorporation into customer offers.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development of product strategies, from acquisition and development, through post-patent and exit.
  • Direct and approve product developments, including new AIs, formulation, packaging, and label enhancements, to ensure maximum impact in the marketplace.
  • Manage contribution of products and product lines by driving maximum revenue, allocating fixed resources, and managing product cost.
  • Establish brand pricing strategy, including net price, and manage territory pricing consistency.
  • Deliver strong brand awareness and positioning by collaborating with the Marketing Communications Team on brand advertising and promotion, ensuring brand consistency across solutions.
  • Manage third-party AIs or brands in the portfolio, ensuring consistency with brand strategy.
  • Work closely with Business Development to develop, implement, and manage post-patent strategies.
  • Manage product supply levels and establish and allocate safety stocks.
  • Develop short- and long-term marketing plans and product forecasts (sales, volumes, and profit contribution).
  • Contribute to global and regional product strategy development as a member of the Product Leadership Team.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Agriculture, Marketing, Business Administration, or related discipline with 5+ years of previous marketing and/or sales experience.
  • Keen understanding of agriculture, marketplace dynamics, and customer needs.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles: positioning, market and financial analysis, and communications.
  • Broad knowledge of product development process, regulatory requirements, and production and logistical systems.
  • At least 5 years of commercial experience in the crop protection industry.
  • Experience in a role requiring strong strategic analysis and decision-making.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of brand strategy development and implementation.
  • Ability to effectively interact across functional groups to achieve desired results.
  • Ability to set ambitious strategic goals.
  • Ability to build a culture of innovation.
  • Customer focus.
  • Ability to manage for performance.
  • Ability to collaborate across boundaries.

Additional Information

  • 20% travel required.
  • Must have a valid passport
