Role purpose

  • Deliver production objectives by performing production shift activities in Formulation, Filling and Packing within a shift team to ensure works are carried out in a safe and efficient manner (includes coordinating and complying with all safety, health, environmental, quality, maintenance, processing, efficiency and continuous improvement guidelines).
  • Deliver on the Formulation, Filling and Packing production plan ensuring compliance to all Syngenta HSE and Quality standards, required quantity and efficiency.
  • Identify situational and systemic problems
  • Provide manual labour for the activities related to production.

Structure

  • People: No direct reports, ensures collaboration with peers and supports Process controllers, Learnerships and Seasonals (Permanent and Temporary)
  • Geography: Brits Site, South Africa

Accountabilities

  • Performs batch formulation by loading of materials according to procedure, filling and packing, materials, quality control and reporting according to production plan. Under supervision of Process controller
  • Works closely with the Process controller and Senior Process Controller to develop and maintain process capability, standards, in order to achieve performance targets.
  • Performs sampling and quality checks according to sampling plan.
  • Provide the skilful equipment operation to ensure the daily objectives achieved.
  • Able to recognize production hazards, and ensures standard operating procedures / work instructions are followed.
  • The role is a part of Industrial Safety procedure of the site.
  • Participates in HSE related accidents / incident investigation and support on corrective and preventive actions are followed.
  • Identify possible continuous improvement projects
  • Participate in PTW and LOTO activities for maintenance work or changes.
  • Ensures cleanliness and tidiness at the workplace, maintain the 5S and other Lean standards.
  • Ensure timely communication with the appropriate management levels for any issues that needs to be escalated.
  • Responsible for personal professional development and growth, undertaking, where appropriate, training, coaching and learning by doing. Gain understanding and technical knowledge of formulation process (e.g. how operation influences quality, check list, report-making, stock control).
  • Ask for more clarity if the task is not understood.
  • Move materials around using non-motorized or motorized equipment. Motorized equipment requires valid licences to be in place.
  • Responsible to be part of the HSE committee, First aiders or Firefighter team

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

  • Demonstrated understanding of operational process hazards.
  • Have 2 – 4 years relevant experience in manufacturing fascility.
  • Rules and regulations for health, safety, industrial safety and fire protection.
  • Basic Microsoft Office experience
