We are currently looking for a 12-months (with the possibility to extend the contract to 24-months) Postdoctoral Fellowship contract in our Process Technology department in Münchwilen. The role will be focused on development and optimization of synthetic methods for the manufacture of intermediates and active ingredients.  Activities also include the investigation and analysis of challenging chemical reactions to support understanding, scale-up and process operations. You will be given the opportunity to develop new skills while working at the cutting edge of science, technology and innovation.

Your responsibilities:

  • Efficiently conceive, plan, prioritize and execute technical and research projects
  • Seek, retrieve and analyze critical information
  • Maintain and develop state-of-the-art knowledge in chemistry and associated technologies
  • Apply knowledge creatively to solve problems
  • Foster a culture of creativity and innovation
  • Ensure compliance of HSE (Health, safety and environment) to Syngenta standards
  • Communicate inspirationally and regularly on research activities

Qualifications

  • A PhD in organic/organometallic chemistry
  • Strong background in the field of synthetic organic chemistry and laboratory techniques including extensive practical work experience in a chemistry research lab
  • Courage to overcome challenges
  • Interest to learn new technics and ways of working.
  • Ability to work independently (and interact) while interacting in multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven organizational and social skills
  • General Analytical Knowledge - Application of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy, Liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry 
  • Good knowledge of English language (written and spoken)
