We are currently seeking a Molecular Biology Research Scientist, for the Trait Discovery team. The full-time position is in the Innovation Center, Beijing, China. The primary responsibilities of this role are to provide scientific expertise in molecular biology for gene discovery and trait improvement for insect control traits, via teamwork with local and global research teams in Syngenta Group.
You will help meet the world’s most pressing needs by:
- Providing in-depth scientific expertise on the discovery, characterization, and optimization of trait genes in vitro and in crops
Accountabilities
- Drive innovation and science excellence on insect-control trait discovery and in plant development
- Design technical experiments and develop project plans by aligning with technical experts and key stakeholders
- Lead projects and ensure timely project delivery through extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams and effective project management
- Develop and conduct trait evaluation and phenotyping, as well as data analysis and driving project decisions
- Maintain accurate experimental records and perform all activities in compliance with Syngenta quality management, Intellectual Property and Health, Safety and Environment guidance
Qualifications
Requirements
- PhD or Master’s in Molecular Biology, Plant Molecular Biology, Protein Sciences or Biochemistry or related Biology majors
- 5+ years of working experience in relevant fields with a proven record of success in the form of patents and publications
- In depth knowledge and technical expertise in molecular biology, protein sciences, biochemistry, in planta gene expression and biotech trait development
- Work experience in agriculture industry or in academia
- Bilingual: Mandarin and English
Preferred Requirements
- Prior experience in developing biotech traits in crops
- Demonstrated proficiency in using bioinformatics tools. Bioinformatics programming preferred
- Demonstrated skills experiences in leading projects and collaborating across teams to deliver business needs
- Ability to deliver under pressure and highly organized in multi-tasking environment
- Proven ability to work as a strong team member on a dynamic research team
- Ability to work in greenhouse and/or field environments at times for data collection
