Job description

Role purpose

  • Accountable for farming activities (planning, greenhouse preparation, planting, crop development, treatments, improvements, etc), coordinating with data collection team lead for internal trials activities (harvesting, treatments, etc.)
  • Greenhouse management accountability. Coordinate and supervise greenhouse crops, in order to ensure good crop quality and relevant data within commercial representatives.  
  • Farm purchase accountability and greenhouses maintenance to develop operations according to the annual planning and defined expectations. Coordinate with GFM and CBRE maintenance activities for greenhouse activities.
  • Promote a fluid and constant relationship between the different departments of the station.
  • Meet and contribute to enforce standards and plans established by Syngenta Seeds, as far as HSE refers, and work together to make our job a safer place.
  • Carry out, organize the work according to protocols ISO 9001:2008 and GSPP.

Accountabilities

Ressources     

  • Budget delivery within operation, planning, people and 3rd parties management.
  • Procurement process to secure trial development and adecuate facilities.
  • Coordinate  infraestructure necesities with GFM to achieve defined targets in time and quality.
  • Inform about improvements in facilities to prevent delays and avoid impact in R&D crops

Operations

  • Crop management in greenhouses and growth room ( irrigation, crop management, treatments, etc.)
  • Provide  trial representativeness through crop management (irrigation, pest control, treatment, climate control, greenhouses and soil preparation, etc)
  • Organize greenhouses and demand acording weekly planning to cover tasks and expectations.
  • Provide support to GFM tasks for a better activity stream.
  • Support projects in the station for a better implementation.

People

  • Responsible for compliance of protocols ISO 9001: 2008, GSPP and HSE standards
  • Support the HSEQ manager and ensure safe operation.
  • Ensure motivation and engagement of the site community in collaboration with other functions in site.

Reporting / Communication    

  • Report and inform about the activity that takes place in the station affecting trials evolution.
  • Member of the local steering committee of R&D.

Qualifications

Critical Experience & Knowledge

    • Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy or related field.
    • Experience in the sector that proves its capacity to manage crops and personnel.
    • Build working relationships between different functions (Breeders, Labs, Marketing, Sales and Farm staff).
    • Continues improvement and quality mindset. Secure standars implementations ( GSPP), ISO 9001 v2015.
    • Coaching and communicative: Team development and performance.
    • Fast making decisions.
    • Flexibility: maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes.
    • Knowledge in budget management..

    Languages

    • English: at least B2 level. Able to communicate.
    • Spanish: full command.
