Role purpose

  • Site Technology lead for introducing new technologies/products to enable site strategy implementation
  • Lead the implementation of the Manufacturing Excellence program in the site improving production in terms of safety, efficiency, capacity, sustainability, cost, and operability
  • Lead implementation of Manufacturing Excellence program in the site improving production in terms of safety, quality, efficiency, capacity, sustainability, cost, and operability
  • Daily technical support to operations in terms of process engineering
  • Foster an operational culture founded on continuous improvement and people development
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and monitoring of the site strategy

 

Accountabilities

HSE

  • Commit and drive the Goal Zero objective – Safety is always our highest priority
  • Working together with the HSEQ department to drive HSE occupational and process safety activities as per Syngenta standards, legal requirements good practices, procedures, internal rules, and controls.
  • Quantification, management, and implementation of mitigation measures for HSE occupational and process safety risks through participation in all risk management activities.
  • OHSA 16.2 and/or 8.2.i appointee
  • Member of the site HSE Committee as a Management representative
  • Member of the Site Emergency Management Team

Quality

  • Provision of technical support, Continuous Improvement culture and methodologies, to drive product and process quality across the site
  • Take all necessary steps to prevent residual impurity incidents affecting product quality

Your Department

  • Management of all departmental functions, activities, resources, and processes.
  • Identification and implementation of improvements including process changes, optimisation, and de-bottlenecking in collaboration with process owner in PT&E
  • Implement Manufacturing Excellence Initiatives (sustainability, smart manufacturing, operational discipline)
  • Support the production teams daily
  • Follows the performance of the unit in terms of HSE-Quality-Reliability and Cost
  • Provide technical expertise during incident investigation for HSE, quality
  • Leads product and technologies transfers as acceptor (new equipment/asset or new product introduction, shared with PT&E)
  • Project management and technical support for small capex projects
  • Participates in tiered Process Technology meetings
  • Support & enable adoption of management disciplines and continuous improvement techniques to drive tangible improvements in business performance – ensuring clear links to operational KPIs and site goals
  • Ensure PSKO process is embedded in the site
  • Lead and develop department personnel in line with Syngenta values
  • As part of the site leadership team, proactively contribute to the development and implementation of site strategy aligned with Asset Strategy, PT&E, Engineering and Global functions

Site

  • Operate within the ambit of Syngenta policies, procedures, and values and in line with the Company’s Code of Conduct.
  • Close co-operation with fellow departmental managers to align site activities to “One Team, One Plan”. Contribute to the site plan and support implementation through proactive participation in the Site Leadership team
  • Co-ordinate and manage the Site Strategy process
  • Manage the site sustainability portfolio in line with relevant stakeholders ensuring the site meets the Syngenta commitment to responsible manage resources

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Critical Knowledge

  • Relevant Engineering Degree
  • Extensive knowledge and awareness of the OHSA and applicable legislation in HSEQ including Process Safety and Major Accident Hazards
  • Manufacturing technologies, process, and equipment with preference to Formulation Filling and Packing manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of cross contamination prevention management
  • Risk management processes including Hazops, PRA’s, WRA’s, and MOC’s
  • Understand the complexities of operating in a global organisation and matrix reporting environment.
  • Proven track record of Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing eg Six Sigma Black Belt
  • SAP knowledge & experience

Critical Experience

  • 10-15 years’ experience in a relevant manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a production and processing environment where HSEQ is critical and non-negotiable.
  • Proactive HSE standard setting within a manufacturing environment
  • Track record of delivery in Operational Excellence / Continuous Improvement initiatives and Project, Program and Change Management
  • Line Management of multifunctional teams
