ROLE PURPOSE

Syngenta Brits FF&P Plant requires services of Maintenance Planner. This role reports directly to Engineering manager, with maintenance technicians as peers.

Maintenance Planner role at Brits FF&P assist the Engineering Manager, maintenance team and Site to continuously improve the overall equipment effectiveness, by implementing and administering effective asset management systems and procedures.  

To achieve this delivery, Maintenance Planner must provide planning, record keeping and reporting function for the Engineering Department, by daily updating computerized maintenance system (CMMS), keep data of, and report on preventative maintenance adherence, condition of assets and the maintenance department performance.

The incumbent may be required to do overtime work when required.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Safety:

  • Adhere and Conform to all Syngenta HSEQ and housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure critical Safety and Operational Equipment inspection, testing and maintenance is carried out periodically.
  • Ensure all equipment compliance requirements are adhered to ( e.g. lifting inspection and testing)
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and company policies in all maintenance work.

2. Planned Maintenance:

  • Managing and prioritizing work assignment (per work orders) from available resources
  • Ensures services of equipment are adhered to
  • Effective turnaround time of Corrective maintenance work reported.
  • Ensuring Work orders are Issued, returned and completed in full and feedback captured into Maximo CMMS
  • Liaising with service providers for Engineering services and inspection required on site
  • Manage and updating of asset list and Asset Master data in CMMS.

3. Unplanned Maintenance on breakdown and machine defects

  • Ensuring effective maintenance team response time to breakdowns reported
  • Capturing of all equipment related breakdown information and update into Maximo

4. Administrative  

  • Capturing of Service Request (SR) loaded into Maximo CMMS and approving these requests to Work Orders
  • Creating Work Orders from Safety Observation or from autonomous Maintenance as part of site Corrective Maintenance
  •  Administration of CMMS System (Updates and creating new PMs).

5. Custodian of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)- Maximo

  • Capturing maintenance data on Asset Care and other cost management systems
  • Creating new Assets and required Functional Location
  • Creating New Job Tasks and Tasks Plans for new equipment, Linked to new PMs (for legal and Non-Legal PMs)
  • On site Maximo Administrator and super-user Management

6. Work Management Execution as per Planning and Scheduling of Work Order CMMS- Maximo

  • Plan and implement corrective, planned and preventive maintenance activities, by determining material, equipment, and labour needs to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with other departments, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth execution of maintenance activities.
  • Timeous capture of completed Work Order and feedback thereof into CMMS system (Maximo System):
  • Accurate data capturing and reporting regarding Mean Time between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repairs (MTTR))
  •  Manage the Engineering Scope of Works and Bill of materials.

7. Spare Management:

           Ensure all spares used are recorded and are correctly as drawn out of stores.

  • Create and maintain Engineering store spare management system (for both Critical and Non-critical spares)
  • Control various Engineering stores and workshop are locked with access to only authorized personnel
  • Ensure critical spares availability at all times.
  • Ensure regular usage spares are identified and available.
  • All spares and consumables are clearly labelled.
  • Workshop and surrounding areas housekeeping is well maintained.
  • Manage workshop tools.

8. Site Asset coordinator

  • Responsible for safe keep, update and storage of Asset Documentation
  • Achieves Project Cor Data-Books eg Project EOJ archiving.
  • Updates Asset Register in the CMMS
  • Maintain Redundant and Idling Equipment list and Scrapped Equipment Register.

9. Execute Management of Change (MOC): modifications to equipment as assigned.

10. Teamwork and collaboration: with other maintenance employees

  • Coaches and develops the engineering skills of other maintenance and operational staff

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum requirements: recognized Trade Test Certificate (Diesel Mech/Fitter/Boiler making/Electrical or Controls and Instrumentation) or Higher
  • Minimum of 8 years maintenance experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience on asset and asset care management planning (planned maintenance) systems as planner role or higher

Critical Knowledge and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning principles and practices, including setting up schedules and integrating predictive maintenance technologies within the CMMS(Maximo) environment
  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • A working knowledge and experience of Computerised Maintenance Management System eg SAP PM/ Maximo/
  •  Must have advanced skills in Microsoft Office- Namely MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Knowledge of Store Inventory Management Systems and techniques.
  • Experience in Robotics, Fill and Pack lines will be added advantage

Critical skills

  • Technical Knowledge – Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, equipment operation, and maintenance requirements with an understanding of engineering machines components such as shafts, bearings, v-belts, drives, contactors, conveyors, motors, circuit breakers, etc
  • Data Analysis – Proficiency in analysing maintenance data, interpreting trends, and using data-driven insights to optimize preventative maintenance plans
  • Project Management – Skills in organizing, planning, and coordinating maintenance activities efficiently
  • Understanding of Work Management Process experience (Maintenance Work order process of part kitting, planning, scheduling and execution)
  • Computer literate, proficient in Excel, Outlook, Work and CMMS systems (eg SAP PM/ Maximo or any other similar systems)
  • Good communication skills towards all levels within the company
  • Must have a proactive problem-solving approach.

  4. more than 5 years’ experience in Maintenance Planning and Scheduling?
  5. experience on the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) outlined above? 
  6. Work Management Process experience in Maintenance Work order process of part kitting, planning, scheduling and execution?
  7. Project Management skills in organizing, planning, and coordinating maintenance and project activities efficiently?
