Role purpose: The Data Engineer will be responsible for managing all technical aspects of the Data Strategy for the Latin America South region. This includes designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes, as well as ensuring data quality and security. The Data Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Dimensions: The Data Engineer will be responsible for managing data for the Latin America South region, which includes multiple countries and business units. The data will be sourced from various systems and platforms and will need to be integrated and transformed to support business intelligence and analytics.

 

Accountabilities

1.           Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes: The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes that support the Data Strategy for Latin America South region. This includes understanding business requirements, selecting appropriate tools and technologies, and ensuring that the data is transformed and loaded correctly.

2.           Ensure data quality and security: The Data Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the data is of high quality and is secure. This includes implementing data quality checks, monitoring data for anomalies, and ensuring that the data is compliant with relevant regulations and standards.

3.           Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions: The Data Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, data scientists, and software developers, to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. This includes collaborating with stakeholders to identify data sources, define data models, and develop data integration strategies.

4.           Develop and maintain documentation for data pipelines and data models: The Data Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining documentation for data pipelines and data models. This includes documenting data sources, data transformations, and data lineage, as well as creating data dictionaries and data flow diagrams.

5.           Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure data is flowing correctly: The Data Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting data pipelines to ensure that data is flowing correctly. This includes identifying and resolving data quality issues, monitoring data for anomalies, and ensuring that data is delivered on time and in the correct format.

6.           Manage vendors and other external stakeholders: The Data Engineer will be responsible for managing vendors and other external stakeholders who provide data-related services or solutions. This includes evaluating vendor proposals, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that vendors meet service level agreements. The Data Engineer will also be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, such as data providers or industry associations, to stay informed about industry trends and best practices.

7.           Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in data engineering: The Data Engineer will be responsible for staying up to date with industry trends and best practices in data engineering. This includes attending conferences, participating in online communities, and reading industry publications to stay informed about new tools, technologies, and techniques.

 


Qualifications

Essential for this position:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  2. Advance level of English (mandatory)
  3. At least 3 years of experience in data engineering. Including designing and building data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes, as well as working with data integration tools and technologies.
  4. Experience with cloud-based data platforms: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Az-ure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This experience should include working with cloud-based data storage, compute, and analytics services.
  5. Strong programming skills: The Data Engineer should have strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala. Necessary for designing and building data pipe-lines, as well as for developing data integration scripts and tools.
  6. Experience with data integration tools and technologies: AWS Cloud, S3 bucket, Parquet File, Lambda Functions, Glue ETL, Redshift, Athena, Alteryx, Jenkins, and CI/CD process. This experience should include designing and building data integration workflows, as well as troubleshooting data integration issues.
  7. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills: Identifying and resolving data quality issues, troubleshooting data integration issues, and optimizing database performance.
  8. Excellent communication and collaboration skills: Working closely with cross-functional teams, as well as for managing vendors and other external stakeholders.
  9. Vendor Management: Experience in managing relationships with technology vendors and ser-vice providers. Ability to evaluate vendor capabilities, negotiate contracts, and ensure effective delivery of services. Strong vendor management skills to optimize vendor performance and manage vendor-related risks.
  10. Continuous Learning: A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on the lat-est trends, advancements, and best practices in Data & Digital. Willingness to explore new technologies, acquire new skills, and adapt to evolving industry demands.
