Join Our Innovative Team at Syngenta Huddersfield: Seeking a dynamic Lab Operations Lead

Are you passionate about driving advancements in chemical process development? Do you have a vision for creating safer, more efficient laboratories that promote scientific excellence? Syngenta, a global leader in agricultural innovation, is looking for a Lab Operations Lead to join our Process Technology and Process Hazards team at the Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre.

Your Role: A Catalyst for Excellence

Process Technology drives the Chemical Process development of the Active Ingredients made at Syngenta Huddersfield Manufacturing centre and is the home to Syngenta’s Global Process Hazards testing and assessment capabilities. As our Lab Operations Lead, you'll be the driving force behind a high-performing team, dedicated to fostering a safe and efficient environment that allows every team member to thrive. Your leadership will be pivotal in:

  • Elevating Safety and Efficiency: Implement and enhance HSE standards within our building and labs, ensuring a safe workplace that sets the stage for groundbreaking work.
  • Future-Proofing Infrastructure: Develop and execute strategic action plans to upgrade our lab facilities, guaranteeing they not only meet current demands but are also poised to embrace future challenges.
  • Facility and Budget Mastery: Take charge of our building and lab facilities, managing both sustenance and capital budgets with a keen eye for operational excellence.
  • Leading with Foresight: Guide the Business Support Team, overseeing procurement processes and ensuring our labs meet the highest quality management standards, including GLP and ISO9001.
  • Asset Management: Collaborate with project teams and external partners to oversee our scientific assets, ensuring our laboratory equipment and software are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Procedural Oversight: Own and manage critical departmental and laboratory procedures, setting the benchmark for efficiency and safety.
  • Risk Assessment Leadership: Key risk assessor for a variety of safe systems of work for activities in Process Technology.

 


Qualifications

  • Technical qualification ideally in chemistry or facilities management; other related disciplines may be considered.
  • Practical experience of laboratory operations.
  • Knowledge of HSE and quality management systems (ISO9001 desirable)
  • Awareness and understanding of process safety and health issues arising from chemical operations in a laboratory environment (COSHH and manual handling etc).
  • Change management experience.
  • Line management experience desirable
  • Continuous improvement mindset and ability to apply this to ways of working and systems.
  • Strong communication and team working skills
